Dogs are good judges of character. My dog snaps at people she perceives are a threat to me or her. She used to snap at my brother-in-law all the time and we wondered why and I caught him kicking her when he thought he was the only one awake. Is your boyfriend being a perfect angel in this situation or is your dog's behavior warranted? Also, if your boyfriend knows you love your dog, if he really loved you, would he ask you to get rid of something that's your "baby"? Maybe he's also jealous of the attention you give the dog? Keep the dog. I'd get rid of a guy before I'd get rid of my dog.

I think that animals - and escpecially dogs really read people well so if ur dog has that reaction to him and he isn't too different looking than any other people you bring around (really tall, short, etc) - then maybe ur doggy is trying to tell you something and save you time -
What a mean guy - "me or the dog" - do you really want to be with someone who gives you ultimatums like that - escpecially about an animal - I would think he would try to get her to like him more - bring treats or take her to the park or play ball with her - or something but no - it's me or her
He sounds childish and if he would ask you to give up the dog - something/someone that you love and care for and that makes you happy - then what next. That isn't cool of him to even ask. Say you 2 aren't together in 2 months (unless you know it's serious) but - what then - no man and no dog makes for one unhappy girly. Keep the baby. (no I don't mean him) =)

I don't care how much you love your dog or your boyfriend....no one has the right to order you to get rid of a member of your family...I know it's a judgment call and you, of course, are the only person who could make that decision, but don't you think that you will forever resent him or your relationship if you are forced to make a choice such as he is demanding. Can't you put the dog in another room when he's around or do you live together? Good Luck!! (I'd keep the dog) lol

Usually I would say keep the dog. But my sister owns a shitzu that has a tendency to bite just about anyone that has ever come over to our house, except the men I bring home. I guess he is just territorial over his house and feels threatened when someone trys to touch something they shouldnt. But he hasnt ever bitten any of my male friends, so I guess Im gonna have to stick with keep the dog, unless you really love this guy, then maybe he's worth losing ur dog over. Any relatives that could take poochie?

Dog's are excellent judges of character.
If you don't want to choose, tell the guy you choose him, and then just keep the dog anyway. Maybe that would work. Or you can just say I'm not choosing.
I'd keep a dog instead of a gf. If the gf was going to make that kind of a demand. It's unreasonable, they should either give in or get lost.

I had the exact thing happen to me and my cat when i was courting my husband. He did not like the cat and the cat did not like him. we ended up getting rid of the cat with the same ultimatum and got married. I love him but the fact that he wasn't trying to take the time to make nice with my cat, whom i knew first, was a character flaw that i find shows up when discipline is involved with our kids. We finally got a dog that we begged for after a year (we've been married 22 years) and the dog does not like him and has bit him a couple of times. (still a puppy) He still has not taken the time to make nice with the dog and threatens to put the dog out every day..ie.,..the dog boo booed on the floor, ever since the dog came, I've had allergies, the dog scratched my glasses and on and on. So you decide.

When you decided to get a dog, you accepted the responsibility of taking care of it for its entire life. Getting rid of your pet is irresponsible, as it would likely end up in a shelter. Would you really want your dog to end up homeless?
In my opinion, your boyfriend should be someone who cares about you, and is willing to accept your pet. It's a five pound dog. They're fairly harmless (I have two small dogs myself). If someone wasn't willing to accept them, playfull nips and all, then they aren't necessarily the type of person I would want to be around. You can tell when a dog is being vicious and being playful, chances are it is the latter. And if your dog is being vicious, there are only two reasons for it: your dog is protecting you, or your dog is scared. Maybe your dog is trying to tell you something. Just remember, your dog is family. Family shouldn't abandon each other.

ALWAYS listen to the dog, he would never lie, they see chit that you don't! Watch what happens when the weather gets bad they hide, when ******* come around they bark! Trust the dog, lose the ******! But let him bite the ****** one more time for good measure, he deserves it for not being more sensitive to the pooch!

The Dog.
Its pretty much crossing the line if a bf tells you to chose between you and what i presume you consider as a part of the family .Since the dog talks to you as well:)

Who do you love more? The dog or your boyfriend? Put the dog up when he's around. I wouldn't want a dog biting me either!!
