Fight back. Surf the internet for what information you want. In the sixties a smallgroup of people put together an interesting publication called the Whole Earth Catalogue and this was done without the use of computers since at that time the average computer filled a 30 ft by 50ft space. Start your own news distributing service, Craig did. Our options are wide upen if we don't buckle.

In the 80s the right wing realized that if they could get rid of the FCC's "equal time" and "fairness" doctrines, then, by owning the media, they could control it and influence it. A couple of years later, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh hit the scene, broadcasting unabashedly right wing propaganda under the slogan of "fair and balanced" and labelling as "liberal" all the journalists trying, in their feeble way, to be objective. The mainstream media felt the sting of those accusations, and soon moved rightward in response. When Bush's approval ratings were above 50%, they were terrified of criticizing him at all, and when mudslingers told lies about John Kerry, they reported it as truth to avoid being called partisan by the right. Yes, it's true you can go on the internet or read to find the truth, but a lot of what is out there is outrageously biased as well, and realistically, moist Americans are too lazy to work for their truth, they'd rather just believe the short, simple, WRONG answers being offered by the right wing media. So the chances are there, but they are slim.

Asking that question is the first - and most important - step toward being informed. The internet is the best resource we have. I'd highly recommend the BBC. If you're interested in other sources of foreign news, most countries do offer English web sites. Good luck. Keep surfing around, weigh the corporate interests against each other, and most importantly, keep thinking critically.

Because you the USA have elected to government a leader who has taken all the respect and admiration we had for you.
Now you need to stand up and take a stand against your government.
Your country finances Israel who is committing war crimes against Lebanon,Syria is sitting and waiting but she will not wait for long , she will not allow Israel to keep killing innocent women, children and to totally take out their inforstructure.
Your country is getting no support from the rest of the world and your economy is suffering .
While President "Push", l mean Bush sends on your country"s behalf Condescendingly Nice, Condaleeza Rice who as a woman should have after seeing all the carnage involved called for a immediate cease fire she did not
The rest of the world is not with you on this issue USA .
I live in Australia where l can get access to the real truth BUT it is your government , your Country that has to DO something.

Your forefathers who died for your right and liberties would be ashamed of what America has become

Generally, it shouldn't make any difference who owns the media, because the journalists should be free to report the news objectively. However, that notion has been skewed by media owners such as Rupert Murdoch, who chooses to hire people such as Roger Ailes, who hires people such as Sean Hannity, to supposedly "balance" out the news, which in effect is skewing the news reporting to the right, because evidence shows that in the past, the media wasn't "liberal" because the journalists didn't bring their ideology into their reporting. Now, they do. And it's sad.

Try reading books about whatever you are concerned about.
Get different opinions, research, browse in the Internet.
Go to your local library. That is the best way to get informed and even find answers to what may be going on.
The media sucks.

Very little. I guess one has to take the time to find the source that "seems" the least biased.

And people who have suggested that you DO SOME RESEARCH, obviously didn't give their answers enough thought .
WHO HAS THE TIME TO DO RESEARCH?????!!! That's the reason there are newspapers and news agencies!!! It is precisely the reason why we people expect news agencies to have at least a little bit of ethics. They have a social responsibility.
