I just bought a 512 MB SD memory card for my digital camera. How long will it be until I need to replace it? (I'm assuming they don't last forever).

They last forever, if u use them with care. Remember: Dont ever touch the metal thing at its end. Keep it away from sunlight, water. Never leave it in locked car, it melts if there is sunlight falling inside the car. Always store it in protective plastic case(which is probably provided by the company)

Follow these simple rules and best of luck with yr SD Card.
By the way, even i'm using SD for my camera since 3 yrs. Love You

Most have a data retention time of about 10 years. After this time they won't all just disappear, they will just have the chance of becoming corrupted. I suggest you make a backup copy of everything on CD or DVD.

As stated, with normal care, they will last for over 100,000 cycles. It should outlive your current camera by quite a comfortable margin.
