I have every intention of taking her to the vet in the morning, but what can i do to help her tonight. She walks on it and puts all her weight on it now, but when she first fell she yelped and limped for about 15 minutes. She is also very snappy to family and other chihuahua. Please help very worried.

we have 2 Chihuahuas and 2 min pins
they get sore legs all the time
cry like a baby for a few minutes
i would just wrap him up in a blanket and rock him for a little bit while you watch tv and relax.
then put a small treat for him on the floor and he will probably go Right for it - after he forgets about his mishap
i wouldn't take him to the vet in the morning if he stops limping

Are then any 24 hour vets in your area? It might be a break. if you can not get her to a vet tonight. then confine her to a small area to prevent her from walking around on the leg.If you have a cage, crate keep her in that for the night and get her to the vet as soon as you can in the morning. I do hope shes ok. It might just be a sprain.

Wow, thats really brutal. I have a chihuahua too and she hasnt had any mishaps yet. Chihuahuas bones are very fragile so i would get some tape ( not scotch tape, bandage tape ) and wrap her leg and dont excite or overwhelm her. I also suggest you dont pick her up and leave her on the floor with a blanket or towel so she doesnt fall off again. Good Luck!

take her to the vet is best I know the other ansewer was in joking break the other leg but that did not get a laugh (sorry but I like the attemp) all you can do till then is to make sure she has enought to eat or a place to sleep.
maybe hold her and pet her a bit calm her down cut down on the time you got to wait to take her in the time for both of you will go by faster and she might not think of her feet that much cause she knows you care about her and that might be all she needs to know for now

Try to keep her off of it. Is it swelling? You could try and ice it. (Good luck with that) My dog has done this is the past and a few hours later he was fine. Some people might suggest children's pain relievers, these can be helpful, but the vet needs to tell you proper amount or kidney damage occur.
Not much else you can do, but keep her off it.

if she's walking on it now it should be fine. but i would still take her to the vet to make sure. the only thing you could do is just leave her alone for now if she's being mean. she will be fine just keep the other dog away from her for a while. you could give her a baby aspirin for the pain too.

IF she will let you rub it, do so try to feal any dislocations or brakes. If she will not let you . Just leave her be . Hopefully she will be better in the morning .
Sometimes a hip will pop out of place & go back in it self . With out any help .
Hope this is what may be with your little dog.
Good Luck And try to get some sleep...

Keep her with you in your room with the door closed for the night. After a rest, she might be just fine. If not, take her to the vet.
