Many people who were teenagers and others in the 1960's see the term, Chicano, as a way to struggle for equal rights under the law.
Racism affected many people of color and Spanish speakers also suffered from segregation in the U.S. Many people from the 1960's are proud to call themselves, Chicano. They marched and protested for their rights as American citizens. They did it for all people of color and I am proud of the work the Chicanos did, to ensure my rights as an American with Mexican roots.
