I need to get a 45 inch big screen TV from N.C. to TN. What would that cost and who can i get to ship it? This is an old school style of big screen, not a plasma or lcd.

Federal Express can probably pick-up and ship it. Call and ask about cost.

A moving company?

You will have to know the weight of the TV so they can give you a price.

May sure the cost of shipping does NOT cost more than it would cost to buy another television!

I imagine you are talking about a rear projection TV.
Being a piece of household goods, you may want to get a hold of a mover. A freight company would be your other choice.
A mover has the equipment to move things that aren't all that well packed by putting blankets around it.
A freight company expects you to have it properly packed and protected.
Either way you may want to get some large cardboard pieces to wrap around the whole TV and hold them in place with a good amount of heavy duty tape. Bubble wrap underneath that should be extra protection. Movers being very knowledgeable will be a big help in that.
