This is an old casserole dish that came here in a boat. Keep it simple but add what you want. Use larger noodles, crumble the ground beef so it chunks while browning and use 1/3 crushed tomatoes to 2/3 tomato sauce and mix before the beef is still medium. You can add green and red bell peppers, onions etc as you wish while it all simmers. Add water to thin so the mix does not gurgle and pop. I add 8 ounces of el pato Mexican t sauce first so it is zesty.
Mine is different every time and I tupperware it for micro meals.
Don't forget to use toasted muffins for dipping and as a filler if there is no main dish.

I have discovered that goulash is something different for everyone. lol What exactly are you looking for? you may be able to find some good recipes on allrecipes.com
goulash for me is elbow macaroni, spaghetti sauce and quite a bit of browned hamburger mixed together. Add in green pepper and onions and you have my mom's version. Beef Stew? That's my mother in law's version...
