Just heard about a married couple from my husband's work. They had twins about a month ago. Two little girls, but both the mother and father smoked during the entire pregnancy. Both girls were born with holes in their hearts. They have been undergoing surgeries the last 3 weeks, and it looks like one isn't going to make it. How is this even legal??
Everyone in my family smokes except me. Even my younger brother who has asthma. Once you are addicted, even when you quit you will fight the addiction for the rest of your life. The cravings will just get less intense as time passes- but they will still be there. Cigarettes smoke stains walls, and the negative effects can "live" in your house for years. The "tobacco" in cigarettes resembles the plant less and less, as it is now mostly made up of chemicals, some sharing components with crack. They are in the process of developing a vaccine for nicotine, that will not allow brain receptors to recognize the addicting components, thus end the addiction factor.

Both my parents smoked. So did all but one of my grandparents and most of my aunts and uncles. I've always been healthy, and I never had asthma or any other type of lung disease. I don't believe people should smoke around children, just because it's stinky. But I don't believe second hand smoke is the evil killer that it's made out to be. Smoking definitely causes heart and lung disease in the smoker though.

After my divorce, my ex-wife started smoking. My daughter and son would come to my house coughing and smelling like smoke. We have shared parenting. I have them half the week, and she has them the other half. My daughter kept telling me that, "Mommy smokes around me, and it makes me sick."
I called her immediately and told her to stop. Her reply was, "It's my life, and you can't interfere." Then I told her that it was killing her and the kids. She said "We all have to die sometime."
I swear right then I wanted to tear her throat out with my bare hands. But unfortunately she's right, I can't stop her from killing my kids. I guess I'll just have to hope she dies first.

Mu husband chooses to smoke but he will NOT smoke in our home. He goes outside on the porch, nor will he smoke in the car or around other people. He knows its his choice to smoke and risk cancer but he refuses to expose others to the risk.

I think ANYONE who smokes is selfish!!! I don't let anyone in my house or around my kids if they're smoking. I had an old friend ask if he could bring his cigarette in (it was lite) I said "YEAH! If you shove it up your butt and leave it there until you leave!!!" He put in out and left it outside = )~
