I was answering someone else's question, and just started crying. Okay, not crying, but got teary. I don't understand..CHRISTIANS, please explain to me...how is God loving? I read answers to another post about why some people have and it just made me sick. "Faith." "A test."
No. No. No. My response to another post about family as God's greatest gift: "God isn't a great being who is loving. How come the Almighty didn't give "gifts" to those who really need it? What about children in abusive families? Starving children in Africa? Neglected orphans in Romanina? None of them have families...what did God give them? A life of torture, that's what. And then because nobody taught them about Jesus (because all the adults they were around were too busy raping/beating them), they all go to Hell." What a "loving" God. Try telling an abused child that he is being sold on the street for sex nightly that God wants to test her at *5 years old*.

And then let's say that when this child who grew up around drugs, sex and violence turns 20. Then he/she learns about Jesus. By this time, this type of material will be hard for them to believe. So let's say that a train runs over them a few years later. They learned about Jesus, but didn't accept him. So they burn for ALL eternity, but it could've been avoided.

Oh, and women...you're probably sinning. Are you teaching? Talking? You're upsetting God. All the CEOs and Oprah are going against God. All the female medical directors of hospitals are going against God. Sandra Day O'Connor is going against God. All the teachers who are female are going against God.

Timothy chapter 2:

" Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent. "

More stuff...God doesn't love women as much. I bet 90% of women are sinning...

Ephesians 5:22-24 : "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."

Why does everyone think God is so loving?
I would say that not everyone believes this about God.
You are assuming that God is the author of evil if He exists and allows pain and suffering to continue therefore He must not be loving as "everyone?" claims right?
I am a Christian man but I will not sugarcoat the fact that we do indeed live in a world that is cruel and over run with evil.
I do find it quite interesting however that those who claim that God is non-existent feel justified in laying the blame for all the evil in the world on His non-existing doorstep. Its easy to believe in God it seems only if it conveniently allows us to take the responsibility for mans actions and lay them upon an otherwise non-existing Deity. But then on the other hand using the same logic could I not say that there must be a transcendent creator in order to account for whatever degree of good that is present in the world? I don't think you can make a claim by default in either instance. I will not make a pretext of knowing what is the mind of God in all things and will tell you that the question of evil has perplexed me for most of my life as a Christian. I have not led a sheltered life and have been dealt a hand that has included a bullet in my back that I have lived with for 30 years, and the death of my family that I never intend on fully recovering from. Do I take the unfortunes of my life as evidence of Gods apathetic nature if He exists or as evidence that He may not exist at all? No I do not. And there is good reason for me not to do so.
There is enough evil in the world that I would think that those who claim Christ as savior should be seen as quite occupied in the doing of whatever is within their means to aleviate in some small way at least some of the suffering and pain. I do see some that take their Christian duty serious in this regards but I also see some without the resources to do so due to the fact that they are spending it on legal fees to fight off charges from the anti-christians that they are unreasonably expressing their faith in the public square. Then again you cannot fault the Christian anymore than you can the nonchristian for the abscence of charity in the heart if the evidence shows that it is a universal postulate to which all are guilty, and all must be prosecuted equally.
To get to the heart of the matter though and to question the reason behind God not doing what He could to ease the burden of what ails the world I can only say that God DID do something about it. It cost Him dearly, the life that He gave was no small thing. If you ever lost anyone you know the pain and the scar that it leaves you know what it means to lose the one you love and in this life no one gets out alive. To what purpose then is life given at all if we are met throughout with the inhumanity of man upon man? Is it worth it?
As finite creatures I do not think that we can adequately answer this question. But I refuse to give up on the love of God merely because of the limited revelation of the finiteness of my own mind. Love is the central truth to being and I believe that God intends this to be the final realization of man after life on earth is over. To insist on personal omniscience is to arrogantly declare the rights of Godship for myself and that has already been tried before...unsuccessfully. If the love that awaits in eternity is worth the suffering here on earth then I will accept what life gives me with a hope that is the only buffer to thwart the despair that would and does consume the angry heart and mind over the injustices that are too much a part of this world.
God has done something about the evil in this world. He has made it so that we do not have to see it multiplied to an infinite degree in eternity. Love has to be chosen..and I see no way around that. God in His wisdom must have thought that the love that can be experienced outside of space and time is worth the torment that this world carries with it or else it would not be as it is. There are some things that man cannot know here on earth but that does not make God the author of evil any more than it makes man the measure of what is good. If the critics of God would perhaps expend as much energy seeking after the heart of God as they do proclaiming His non-existence maybe we could join together in changing the hearts of those who would make so much merchandise of the innocent.

Hello friend,
Though I am Christian, I do not have the answer that could satisfy every question or objection you've raised.
But I am willing to tell you what I know.

May I first say that Faith is NOT a test. May I refer you to James 1:13-16. In my answers, I often point out various Scriptures. I show where they can be found, rather than quoting them so much as others do. It's my firm belief that if you truly want to know and understand the Bible, you'll spend time in it.

I've said all that to say this, the answers to all that your question asks, is in God's Book. It is not all in one Book or chapter that you
can scan and then have perfect understanding.

What you've asked is difficult and yet simple. It is difficult if you won't read and accept God's Word as absolute truth.

But if you will read and accept it, here is part of what you'll find.
Your question describes what is sometimes called "the sin problem". I suppose you know the account of Adam and Eve, and the fall of man.

Well, it was God who gave mankind free will. Man took that free will and sinned against God, and all the horrors, wickedness, disease, rapes, murders etc. are all the consequence of sin.

That sin problem has a solution. His name is Jesus Christ.

May I say friend, I do not make excuse for all the wickedness described in your question. In this evil world, (yes, it lies in the power of the evil one 1Jn.5:19), there will always be suffering and darkness until Jesus returns.

He is our hope, and the only cure/answer for those things you've asked about.
One day (soon I believe) He will come again and put an end to all
unrighteousness.
I know that may not help the right now, but trusting in Him allows us to impact one person at a time to hopefully make a difference where we are. And thus help some.

I am sorry this is so long. I pray you would give Christ an honest chance. You won't be sorry. It was God's love that sent Jesus to die on a splintered tree for you and I. Yes God is loving. He has your name inscribed on the palms of His hands. (Isa.49:16.

May God give you peace,
2 Tim. 2:7

I was "saved" because the minister at the time had me convinced that if I did not do it RIGHT then, I would get in a car accident and die and go to hell on the way home. It is hard to understand. I believe that God created us, and then just sort of sat back to watch. The minister of the church where I most recently went would talk about how God would test him all the time. That is why he went bankrupt. That is why they had so many miscarriages. That is why his son was killed.....all to test his faith in God. Ok, so if that is the case, then why does he leave someone like me, who is always unsure, alone? Not that I want my children hurt, but does he not care enought about me? Does He care more for the lying, deceitful man that calls himself a minister? I think people have their own wills and can make their own decision about what to to with their lives, and of course, the decisions of the people around us affect us...sort of a vicious circle. I wish I had some answers, but the last two ministers I have been around, have been horrible excuses for human beings. Sort of makes it even harder to have faith..but then, (forgive me if this seems to wander) I watch my four year old catch fireflies and think, there has to be a God to create something as prefect as a firefly.....I hope you find some peace within yourself.

First of all, you are like most people think that God has to be fair to all, meaning no suffering whensoever, wheresoever. As a matter of fact, it will, by the time believers get to heavn. All the sins will be forgiven.

Yes, you are using the eyes of humans to see God. God has his plans. God loves you more than what's earth. You should extend your view to eternity, then you will know. Indeed, many people in the earth are sick, kids have no parents, died in disaster. however. this is just the view of what we can comprehend. It is different from God.

Maybe those are suffered now will enjoy eternity moer than anyone else. God will judge.

If you want everything to be fair, everyone to be loved, you will have to wait until end of world. You will see and actual experience his loving side. For now, you should experienced your existence, you should feel that you are blessed now because of God's love.

Whether you agree or not, this is how I feel.

sometimes bad things happen that can later in life be turned into a positive. Yes there are 5 year olds that are tortured but they could one day become adults that go out and rescue other children they can also empathize and care and open peoples eyes to it and bring more help to those in need. Instead of blaming GOD why dont you blame the devil? why would you think the lord is doing it? And why do you think they go to hell because they dont know god? They are gods children therefore they wont go to hell its only those that deny him and harden their hearts against him. It sounds to me like you need to take a deep breath and not be so negative. Look for the positive. Ever think of becoming an investigator and looking for those perverts that hurt children or maybe you can be a foster adoptive parent to a child in need and you and the child can relise god helped by having you help and meet a child in need.

From a Christian

There is no short answer to your queston. I wish there were.

The goodness of God, his love, mercy and kindness is displayed through people. True christians who will stand up and be counted no matter what the cost. All to often in the this world people become self obsorbed with our own needs. The lust for more, more money , more power, more control.

Where ever these things exist there will always be a resulting inequailty. And more importantly injustice.

God loves you, and he cares for you very much. Never ever give in o the LIE that its not worth it. We all go through times when we think like that, and yeah even christians are not immune.

Maybe with what your feeling is a stiring within you, that maybe you are someone that god wants to use to create change?

Theres a saying that goes.

" Evil prevails, When good men and women do nothng "

Wow, this has been a rough night for you. Here's what I think about this. It does not address this in the Bible, but knowing what I know about God from having read the Bible, I believe that God turned the world over to us and lets the world run its course according to what we've made of it. I have to tell you, I think we've put the Devil in charge. God intervenes more than we are willing to acknowledge, and when it's REALLY obvious that he has intervened, we explain it away as fate or luck. I do believe that in the end, Jesus will consider the life we have all had prior to adults upon deciding our future. However, understand that when the end times are near, everyone will be given many obvious signs meant for encouraging people to convert. Regardless of your background, if Jesus is literally standing in front of you and your heart is STILL hardened, then I'm not quite sure your future is everlasting life.

you are only held accountable for what you know. so if someone has not heard about Jesus, that doesn't mean that they are going to hell. the Bible says that those who know much, much is required.
as far as God not being loving, I know when you look around at the suffering that is going on, it's hard to see love in any of that. but God doesn't see things like we do, he can see beyond this life. this life to him is temporary compared to eternity.
then why do people suffer at all? the answer is SIN. sin effects everything around us. have you ever heard someone who does drugs say "I am only hurting myself"? when in fact they are hurting their parents, their family, their friends.. sin hurts the innocent.
I can't begin to tell you how much it breaks my heart to see or even hear that a child is being abused. I absolutely love children. God is not testing a child, maybe, just maybe, he is testing us. when you see a child being abused do you try to help? do you stand by and let it continue?
is God loving? yes he is, he made sure that this wasn't the only life we would ever know, he went to prepare a place for us, in heaven. and it will last longer that 70 or 80 years. this life is nothing compared to heaven.

Never take the Bible literally, it's full of contradictions.

You can't blame God for all the bad things in the world, you can only blame people. Then entire world isn't like that for a reason, some governments and societies know how to function some don't.

Also, I don't personally believe that you have to believe in Jesus to go to heaven. God just wants us to live a good life, with good morals and human decency. If we make good choices, we'll get into heaven, and of course all children do too.

God works through his people----
My church has missionaries in those places you listed --- our dollars are making better lives for them --- sheltering and feeding them... I have friends who have adopted kids for Africa and Romania....My husband and myself are contributors to feeding programs/orphanages in those countries--- those precious kids aren't forgotten! My church established a Mercy Home in Kenya to house neglected children --- now the older ones are teachers and assistants to the managers.
If we all would step out in faith and help change their lives in those 3rd World countries - we could make life there good for them and for future generations.
I don't know where you get that abused kids are being tested but that is false --- instead of writing an angry posts - go and become a missionary or a health-care worker - go to Romania and love those kids and protect them..... we can post stuff online from the comfort of our homes and shed tears until we start floating...that don't change the situation the poor are in---- take action --- one person at a time can help make a world of difference to a needy or abused child ---
The women keeping silent is church is for the ones who are gossipping (not bridling the tongue) evidently they were doing this during this during the preaching. A woman can teach --- she can't be in charge...and this pertains to the church and home. For we also see in the bible that Deborah is a Judge(Jdg 4:4 ¶ And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
Judges 4:5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.)
