The refrigirator has a light, why doesnt the freezer?

Because it would melt the cold stuff when you open it. Yeah, that sounds right.

I'm not sure on this but I would think with the light bulb it becomes covered in ice and has the possibility of exploding withthe heat from the light coming on but I could be wrong since they are bringing machines out now with bulbs only a guess.
