Heck yeah! I have a 2 year old as well. She is now going to bed at 9:30 pm. Limit sugar. No juice after 3pm only water. Play outside for at least 2 hours, weather permitting. Try bribing. I was so against it, but now I see it works. I also try to compare her to other "big girls" who go to sleep all by themselves. Good Luck!

My son is 2 and he's gone through odd phases like this. Some things that I've discovered during these times is that his 2 yr. old molars were coming in, he had too much sugar or caffeine, he, like many 2 year olds, are afraid they are going to miss something, and separation anxiety (doesn't want to be alone or away from mom too long). I've also found that if he isn't stimulated in some way with physical activity, interaction with other kids, brain stimulation with books, drawing, games, etc., then he doesn't get worn out and will stay up forever. It's amazing how a 2 year old can be so hyper and go without sleep. It should pass and then the next annoying phase will appear. If it worries you very much, call her doctor.

It sounds kinda like my daughter! She's almost 2. She goes to bed around midnight, and sleeps til 6am. The thing about her is that she sometimes takes NO nap during the day, and other times she'll take anywhere from 1 to 3 naps a day! She's mad unpredictable! I don't understand either! I think it's just a phase she's going through. She'll be ok. I try to bare with my child. It's hard sometimes working off of just a few hours of sleep. She'll be ok though. And so will your baby. Good luck! Wish me the same! =)

Ooooo, I had one of these! Mine started not sleeping right from the beginning - he would sleep 20 min, then be up for 3 or 4. For a two year old, though, you really need to get her to nap, and develop a better schedule for her. She should be going to bed around 8 p.m., even if she then wakes at 5 or 6 a.m., then down for a nap in the afternoon at 1 or 2 p.m.. You really need to reinforce this with reading and singing to her, relaxing her before bedtime and naptime. Please don't call your kid crazy bad.

It isn't normal I would take her to the doctor perhaps she has sleep apnea or something else is wrong. I hope that you don't delay on this. Also you shouldn't give her anything to drink after 6 pm because it might keep her awake. Try getting her to lie down around 7 and tell her it's bed time now. Perhaps if you start a regular bedtime routine :dinner, bath, preparing for bed, story then she'll get into the habit of going to bed earlier. Good luck

She's over tired!! My daughter did the same stinking thing.. I thought she just needed less sleep, so I cut her nap short, no, it was the opposite, she was over tired, so I let her have a 2 1/2 hour afternoon nap after lunch, and all of the sudden, at 8 pm she went to bed and slept ALL NIGHT!!!

No it isn't.Maybe you should watch her sugar intake, and be careful not to over stimulate her or her brain near bedtime.Remind her that it is bedtime starting at around 15minutes before, and then remind her every 5 minutes.Tone down the room by dimming the lights and turning off the television etc.Prepare her for bed,and sing a nite nite song every night so that she gets into a routine.

WOW I don't know about 2 year olds but 1.5 year olds need 14 hours of sleep. You should talk to your doctor pronto!! Until then no caffeine (including chocolate) no sugar, lots of physical activity and (as my doctor says) you need to be stern with her about bed times. It affects everyone in the house. Good luck!!

i also have a 2 yr old and she's on a pretty good schedule but sometimes she wakes up and wants to stay up i agree no sugar no caffeine exercise but it could just be a phase too or her schedule could just be out of wack. i'd talk to her pediatrician and see what he has to say also. as far as sugar a lot of stuff has sugar you wouldn't think of looking at such as ketchup i have a friend you give her kid ketchup and its like feeding her a bag of sugar so read labels
