A greenhouse refers to a glass building where plants are kept and taken care of. The greenhouse becomes hot and humid because of the sun's electromagnetic rays. It heats up the plants and soil because gases are being trapped and not released.

The greenhouse effect refers to the earth where gases are being trapped by infrared radiation. In other words the atmosphere is heating up the earth because of gases like carbon dioxide.
The temperature rises 4 degrees each year warming up the planet.
This will cause flooding to occur...ever picture NYC under water? because the increased temperature will melt polar ice capes, therefore increasing ocean levels. It will also develop so much as to cause hurricanes, tornadoes and other such natural disasters.
Yes it will mean we die out.
If we don't do anything about cars or pollution at all, global warming will mean our death. Well, it will take years to get worse but if we want a nice environment for the future of mankind we should do something NOW.

Three options.

1) a house painted green

2) a structure build of glass or transparent plastic in which plants are grown. The material allows light and with it heat to enter put blocks the heat when it tries to escape from the building, raising the inside temperature to promote growth of plants that want a warmer environment than that outside the building

3) derived from 2) an effect present on all planets whereby the gases in the atmosphere reduce the rate at which the heat from the planet's star escapes. Increase the percentage of the gases that block the escape and the planetary temperature will rise. Carbon Dioxide is one these gases.

If you are talking about the green house effect it means that when heat enters the atmosphere the length of the ray changes and is trapped. Just like a greenhouse allows heat in and traps it. The greenhouse effect is one of the reasons there is life on earth. There is concern that pollution is causing a concentration of certain gases that are increasing the greenhouse effect making the planet warmer. Another good example of the greenhouse effect is how hot a car can get on a sunny day.

I didn't say "green house".

If I had, I might either mean a house that was green or a glass building where I grow plants or the effect of the toxins in our atmosphere (much like the plant thing).

Aside from the horticultural green house at which you shouldn't throw stones, a green house can also mean a dwelling that is green in ecological terms. This means it will take less energy than conventional houses to build, may be built in more ecologically sound materials and will consume less non-renewable energy whilst being lived in. It may be more environmentally sympathitic, belanding in more naturally. It may also have less de-construction costs or be easily recycleable when it is removed or taken down.
