I hear hearing aids can be pretty pricey.
At RadioShack they sell a sound amplifier the size of a deck of cards that make the sound around you louder. They cost $30. A pair of headphones comes with amplifier so only you hear the amlified sound.

there are cheap and conventional HEARING AIDS nowadays.you can try one.
