I am 35 weeks pregnant and our only son will be 14 in feb. Any advice on how to handle jealousy between the two. My son has been the main attraction for so long, I am worried he will feel left out. He has already made comments about the baby having a better ceiling fan than him.

Get him involved with the new comer. Let him know that while the baby requires a lot of your time, you want to spend time with him, too. I also suggest that you try to do one on one things with him after the baby is born. Let him know that he is as important now as he was before the baby and he is still your first baby. He may act like your being gross, but deep inside he'll like it.

Encouarge him to "show off" his little brother when he is in public. It will bring more attention to him. You might be suprised too once the little guy is here....my mom said my brother hated me for the first couple of weeks and then just took over and became the protective big brother.

Good luck, and congratulations!

based on my childhood with my siblings, I'd say that jealousy is a condition of fear created or allowed by one's PARENTS!
if there is love, respect, dignity, acceptance, tolerance and other positive stuff in the family, that the parents model and teach, the kids should love and accept each other TOTALLY. they will each simply copy the attitudes and behaviors of the role modeling adults around them in all cases.
his attitude is totally up to you, the parents!
