First you need to determine if you actually have dandruff...
What kind of shampoo are you using? If you are using something cheap like suave.. you most likely just have a dry scalp.
If you are using the "top of the line" store bought crap, you probably have build up.
If either of these is the case.. stop using them. If you are using the top of the line crap, wash your hair twice with a mixture of baking soda and dish soap and scrub your scalp with your fingers.. then, for either situation.. go to a salon and buy a good shampoo and conditioner, use it often, and scrub your scalp with your fingers (not your nails).
Dont be discouraged by the price.. these products are concentrated and no one (even long thick hair) needs more than a dime to quarter size amount of either product.. a liter will last a man about 1 year.. and a woman with long hair about 4-6 months.
If neither of these are your problem.. go to a salon and buy a dandruff shampoo.. don't buy it at the store.. these cheaper products actually strip off a layer of skin (eeww!!)
If all else fails, see a doctor.
Most people think they have dandruff when its just cheap products.. I see about 1 case a week like this in the salon

You can never really get rid of dandruff with products/ shampoos you get nowadays. I suggest you try coconut oil. Coconut oil makes your hair stronger, shinier, and helps with dandruff AND it doesn't contain any chemicals!
First you lather your hair with it and let it stay for about an hour. Then rinse it off well. You should do this at least once a week. You should start to see results after using it several times. It's worked for me! Good luck!
Oh, and by the way, don't use "Head and Shoulders", it makes your scalp dry, which only makes your dandruff problem worse.

Itching, flaking and scaling skin above the hairline can be quite common. In its mildest form it is called dandruff. The severity can be lessened largely by monitoring the risk factors associated with it and through careful attention to following a proper skin care regimen. Dandruff of the scalp in adults and adolescents is commonly treated with medicated shampoos containing ingredients such as zinc, selenium sulfide, sulfur and salicylic acid or tar.

Selsun blue or head and shoulders. They've both worked for me. Stay away from products that are suppose to be treatment shampoo's for a while till your dandruff goes away.

Head and shoulders or tea tree oil shampoos and conditioners. They are great for sensitive scalps.
