I am a breeder, I suggest a diet suppliment. Esbilac makes a powder (looks like powdered milk) that you sprinkle over her food. It will help her with calcium and other nutirents that she needs. Feeding pups is super hard on her body and so she is worn out. You should also put her on puppy food as long as she is nursing, the added fat and protein and calcium will help her deal with the nutritional strain on her body. Also make sure she is getting as much attention from you as possible, if you start giving the pups more she might get wierd, especially if this is her first litter. And by all means if you decide to breed again...find some books and read up on it...don't ask questions on sites like this and risk getting answers from people who don't have a clue.

I can understand your frustration. You explained it very well. I am 5'4" and I dated a guy that was a little over 6'6" . Besides the fact that he was a psycho, he likes shorter women because he liked to be dominant and controlling and he couldn't get that with tall women. I'm not saying all tall men are that way but I can understand what you meant by tall women intimidating them. I did always feel odd when we would be walking together. If you really like this guy that is shorter than you give him a chance. Maybe you will like him so much his height won't bother you anymore. Also this is so cliche but its true when you're not looking for love that's when it finds you.

Does she seem like herself? Sometimes right after giving birth little dogs suffer from an extreme calcium deficency. Signs of that are, disorientation, confusion, seizures. You would notice this with in a few hours of birth. It is an emergency! Go to a vet immediately. She will die if she is not treated.
She really shouldn't want to leave the puppies at first. Only to use the bathroom and eat. Is she feeding them enough? Are the puppies OK?
Just watch the situation and if she shows the signs I mentioned, or if the puppies aren't getting enough to eat, go to a vet.

no this is not normal behavior fro a dog that has just had puppies they will usually not leave them for several weeks , this is her first litter and she is about 1 year old isn't she you need to take her in the the vet or to an emergency hospital tonight as the puppies are very small and you could loose then very easily. call your vets office to night , they should have after hours instruction of what EC to go to. good luck.

Well it MIGHT depend on how rough the time was while she was in labor. Maybe you should see a vet. I am not sure. Sorry but this is all i would know. I mean sometimes having a litter of pups can be putting ALOT of stress on her.

How many puppys did she have?My dog had pups and your dog is probable tierd give her some time.If she had a binch then she mite not be able to feed all of them.how long has she bean away for the puppys? because puppys mite be to hard for her to deal with so help her take care of the pups. And if she can't feed all of them you will have to hand feed the puppys.

Some mother dogs don't bond well with their pups. Sometimes another animal (i.e. cat, other dog, etc) will bond with the pups when it's obvious the mother isn't that interested or nurturing. Call your vet for some expert advice.

She is probably exhausted! Make her comfortable, so she can relax and take care of her pups. Congratulations on the new pups.
