My friend is in Washington visiting her dad. She was up there 4 her birhday. She found out that her dog got in to her choclate cake and ate it all. She asked me 2 go on the internet because she dosn't have one yet, She wanted to know if choclate is bad for dogs-help

Yes, it's called theobromine poisoning. There is an ingredient in chocolate called alkaloid theobromine that is not easily metabolized by animals---dogs and cats are very sensitive to this. It is toxic to dogs and can result in cardiac arrest, seizures, internal bleeding and unfortunately death. The theobromine can stay in the dog's system for up to 20 hours. The effects of the poisoning is based on the amount of chocolate consumed and how much the dog weighs.
Your friend should contact a vet immediately!!!

YES! Seriously. Will give the dog a serious case of diarrhea that will last a few days, causing dehydration, etc. Don't want to scare your friend, but unless this dog is the size of a horse, she might want to call an ER vet to see if she can get some kind of meds.

Chocolate is very harmful for dogs. Don even give those dogs' chocolate that sell in those pet shop. If a dog eaten some chocolate, then have to depend on the dog individually whether his/her body is strong enough to fight the harm not.

YES especially on small house dogs i have a pomeranian and she got into some chocolate and was sick all night with the runs and i had to take her to the vet because she got dehydrated my vet told me to keep all chocloate away from my dog

Yes, it is bad for dogs....I would go to the emergency vet so they can make him throw up, especially if it is a very small or medium sized dog. I very large might be okay but I would not chance it.

its a myth blown way out of proportion. Its only bad for some breeds and even then not every dog. If hes not acting weird by now then hes not one of those dogs.

yes it is very bad and if it eats to much it could kill your dog don't panic thought try to make it throw up. Kepp an eye on your dog but i dont think he/she will die.

yes, get the dog to the vet asap. small amount of chocalate won't be fatal, but the definition of "small amount" depends on how big the dog is.
