Read about dogs and alfa males... he is the alfa male right now and you are not following his rules. He needs to be following your rules and you need to be the alfa male... he might also be very afraid and unstable about his enviroment. Be stern but be loving at the same time if you want to keep him. Sounds like he needs obedience school.

When a dog hides under a bed, he's trying to get to a place where he cannot be disturbed for some peace and quiet. Instead of making him go into his cage, your bf should have simply let him or taken him outside so he could finish his business. Dogs are very sensitive to human's tone of voice, so I gather "see what you did" was threatening and intimidating to him. Apparently, he doesn't like either your bf or your brother and that's particularly troubling because as a general rule, dogs won't dislike someone without a good reason. Whatever it is they're doing, something must change or you will end up with a very unpleasant situation. Bottom line: give the dog some peace when he is under the bed undisturbed and love on him when he comes out. Find a good dog trainer to discuss the situation with. Good luck.

neuter him as soon as possible, he has some serious hormone issue going on. there are a few training mistakes you made here. first, a cage(crate) should never be a punishment thing. it should a home, a place he can feel save in. if he doesn't feel safe, he is going to mark other places as territory. second, puishment should not be followed by giving treat, it's just going to confuse the dog. third, i don't think a dog will bite without anyone provoking him. a dog will bite when he thinks there is something wrong, not when human thinks there is something wrong. my guess is your boyfriend has crossed the territory line. he bends down, the dog either feel threatened or ok to attack, so the dog bites.
yea...i can give you specific training tips for specific behavioral problem...now your story is a little too broad. neuter him first and see what happen after.

Punishing a dog for peeing or pooping in the wrong place is pretty
counterproductive - they rarely understand what is going on. However
dogs are pretty quick to establish "safe areas" - terroritories that they
feel safe in and do not take kindly to being yelled at or provoked.
You don't poke a dog in a cage, and if he's hiding under the bed, you
don't put your hands in there either - especially if you've yelled him and
the dog feels threatened.
That being said, dogs shouldn't bite their owners or their owners friends.
How does the dog do with others? It may be that your friend and the dog
have now decided that the other is an enemy and you have to break that
cycle.
If the dog bites others, however, you may need to have him destroyed.

Get the dog neutered asap. The dog might be peeing and pooping in the house because he does not get out enough. Do not give the dog Greenies, I saw on tv a lot of dogs died from them. They block their intestines or something. Did you see the dog bite your bf for "no reason"?

You need to get rid of this dog. Any dog that will bite especially when not provoked is not a good pet. You do not want to be responsible if someone outside your family gets bit or for the bite of a child. You can be sued. I suggest getting rid of the dog immediatley.

Your dog does NOT like or trust your boyfriend at all!! You know what they say though don't you? Kids and Dogs know.....
Has your dog been abused in the past by a male owner...he may dislike all males if he was and this behavior takes a really long time to remedy! My australian shepherd (10yrs.old)was BADLY abused by a hispanic male, before I adopted her, and to this day, she will bark and run from a man that remotely resembles anyone with these traits! Good Luck!

If you have to ask how to deal with this dog then he is probably not the right dog for your home. You have a responsibility to this dog since you took him in, but you have a bigger responsibility to your family and community. If the dog is of a discernible breed you might find a rescue group to take him. Otherwise I would take the dog to the local shelter and pray that someone who knows how to handle him will adopt him. I would like to add a note to dilpo: Please tell me that you DO NOT have pets. If you do have pets, I would like to know your address so that I can have your animals checked out for abuse and/or neglect.

Under the bed is HIS territory and he is protecting it from others.
Watch the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millian. He deals with that all the time.
Ask a traininer or behaviorist how to corrct the problem so you and the dog don't get hurt,.

Does not seem like a dog you should keep. This dog could bite a neighbor, child, you or your boyfriend and do some serious damage. If a neighbor is bitten they will report it and you dog will be put into quarantine and possibly euthanzied
