They were chosen, they are NOT CHOSEN ANYMORE. The promise to Abraham has been fulfilled.

You must take care when judging other persons relationship with God. Take the perfect Buddhist for instance. They may are a very open minded agnostic of sorts, looking to join or be with God, whatever. They spend their time seperating themselves from life. Gaining a higher perspective. Learning how to interact. Learning when not to interact. Until there is little left of their human "affliction" and what is left is "I". You see, we talk about "my personality" or "my desires", but we often forget that that itself, indicates we precieve and "I" outside of what we have (like personality). Would our most Merciful and Just God send one such as this to Hell? Perhaps you can answer your own question.

Jews have held their religion for thousands of years, will God simply turn His back on them?

ADDITION: Being a Catholic (Christian) really I have to strongly encourage belief in Jesus Christ our Lord. He really is the safest way. He is our Saviour.

I realize that some people will say that this arguement seems to make Jesus death seem meaningless. Regardless, Jesus arguement was something like, if He stays it will be complete, or he will rule the world. It seems like God had something else in mind.

So, here we are, with the Old and New Covenant. The Old would never remove the Jews and so we assume that they are saved even still. But what of other religions? Will those other be judged by Jesus? Yes. We are told that He is our Judge. How this will actually be done is a mystery, but we have the basic guidelines (Judge not and you shall not be judged and whatnot). Then, we have to ask ourselve what we know of God. Is he Merciful? Yes. Is He Just? Yes. (This points to purgatory though some might argue).

So what then of the Buddhists and Muslims. We can't really be sure, but if we know God, then we can hope. I hope God is Merciful Judge, and those who are good and can accept Him will be saved. Don't you Hope so as well. Isn't this the God we place our faith in?

I for one, do not believe that any denomination or religion has a monopoly on the truth.

Why are they His chosen people? Perserverence and the Old Covenant; Even without their foretold Messiah, they still believe. They are His stiff necked people.

They became Gods chosen people before Jesus came to earth. They can still find Jesus as the Messiah and ask him into their heart. Many have already and many more will during the great tribulation when the 144,000 Jews from all the 12 tribes will be witnessing to them about Jesus.

God did make a covenant with the Jews (the tribe of Judah from wence the name "Jew" is derived) and with the whole house of Israel who are the children of Abraham.
They did not accept him when he came in the meridian of time (2000 years ago) because they were expecting a messiah who would literally save them from the oppression and rule of the Romans and reestablish the throne of David in Israel.
As the the chosen people of God they were still obligated to be a light to the world, the gentiles, the pagans or whatever they wish to call anyone not of their blood line or faith.
Instead the Savior, Messiah came with the message of Salvation, not from the Romans but from there own corruption, evil, and sins which eventually brought down the wrath of God, via the Romans, upon thier nation and ended up having the Jews scattered, their temple destroyed and the vassal state of Israel dissolved until recently when Israel was reestablished.
Devout and attentive Jews still await a Messiah to come and Free them from physical enemies, which surround them, and that time will come but they will see the marks of the nails in His hands and His Feet and the wound in His side and they will ask "what are these wounds that you have?" and He will tell them these are the wounds with which I was wounded in the house of my friends" and at that day they will realize and accept what did happen 2000 years ago to Him and then they will accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
It is the duty of all Christians to set the example that Jesus Christ set before the Jews, that of Love thy neighbor, Peace, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Mercy, Faith in God, Selfless Service, Meekness, Temperance, Humility, Brotherly Kindness and an Eye Single to the Glory of God.
It is a shame that There are Christians who foster, foment, engender, and promote anti-semitism(aka anti-Judaism).
I think they may have forgotten the promise God Gave to Abraham that God would curse those who curse Abraham(this would also include his posterity) and bless those who bless Abraham.

" And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
(Old Testament | Genesis 12:3)

This promise or covenant extends to all the Families(people) of the Earth if they would follow Jesus Christ, who is Jehovah of the Old Testament, make covenant with Him by being baptized and receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost by those who have authority from God to do that. Any one who commits to this is adopted into the house of Israel and becomes literally the 'seed of Abraham'.
New Testament | Galatians 3:29;Galatians 4:28
I hope this helps answer your question.

It goes back to the Covenant made with Abraham. The Bible spells out the family genealogy. Read and you will learn. Most Jews do not accept Jesus as Messiah, but one day they will know he is the Messiah. There are, however, many Messianic Jews (Jews who believe in Jesus as Messiah).

God Bless the Jewish brothers and sisters and God Bless Israel!

Jews were deposed from their position of chosen people by Allah the Chooser of people, for their misdeeds and so were the Christians for becoming astray. Allah is the Sole Chooser of people and He makes a Choice whatever He likes although in every change reasons are openly manifest for those who seek knowledge. We as creation of Allah are accountable for Allah is Supreme, Creator of the Universe and He was neither begotten nor He begets.

(Romans 3:27-30) 27 Where, then, is the boasting? It is shut out. Through what law? That of works? No indeed, but through the law of faith. 28 For we reckon that a man is declared righteous by faith apart from works of law. 29 Or is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also of people of the nations? Yes, of people of the nations also, 30 if truly God is one, who will declare circumcised people righteous as a result of faith and uncircumcised people righteous by means of their faith.(Matthew 23:37-39) 37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent forth to her,—how often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks together under her wings! But YOU people did not want it. 38 Look! YOUR house is abandoned to YOU. 39 For I say to YOU, YOU will by no means see me from henceforth until YOU say, ‘Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah’s name!’”

addition for SPIN; Looks like The Apostle Paul Dissagrees with you.
(Titus 1:2) upon the basis of a hope of the everlasting life which God, who cannot lie, promised before times long lasting,

Romans 11 tells us that God has hardened their hearts against the gospel for the sake of the Gentiles until a full number of Gentiles come. I believe He will unharden their hearts when the time is right.

But a majority do! Christians are the Jewish faith fulfilled. Some have not yet seen the truth. They are still our brothers in Christ.
