Muhammad (pbah) was given revelation for the Angel Gabriel the same angle who God sent to all prophets. He was the sealer of all the Abrahamic prophets. We are to read the Torah and Psalms, as well.

The profession of faith is the first pillar of Islam. One must profess “There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Prophet of God.” It is the first because it is foundational; all else—the rest of the pillars, ethics, the Muslim’s entire life—depends on this declaration of faith. By doing so the Muslim is committing to absolute monotheism, an unshakable and uncompromising faith I the oneness or unity. It is also to affirmation of Muhammad as the messenger of God, the last and final prophet, who serves as a model for the Muslim community. A Muslim must also believe in one God, who alone is worthy of worship; belief in angels, spiritual beings who do the will of God; belief in scared books, including the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospels; belief in the prophets, as examples to follow and as spokesmen of God, with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus primary among others; and belief in the Day of Judgment and resurrection. This is to be done each time a person prays.

Thank you for taking the time to better understand Islam. InshAllah(God willing) you will read all Muslim responses with an open mind because we all have a lot in common. Allah (SWT) is the same God who sent down the Torah and the bible. He has been sending the same message since the beginning of time. He is the same God worshiped by Adam, Abraham, Noah, Mary, and Jesus and all of His Messengers. So does he compair. How can you capair one thing. The simple fact is there is only ONE GOD. We call him by his Arabic Name Allah(SWT) as do Arabic speaking Christians. But he is the same God.

The word "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for Almighty God, and is the same word used by Arabic speaking Christians and Jews. If one were to pick up an Arabic translation of the Bible, one would see the word "Allah" being use where the word "God" is used in English. Actually, the Arabic word for Almighty God, "Allah", is quite similiar to the word for God in other Semitic languages — for example, the Hebrew word for God is "Elah". For various reasons, some non-Muslims mistakenly believe that Muslims worship a different God than Jews and Christians. This is certainly not the case, since the Pure Monotheism of Islam calls all people to the worship of the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all of the other prophets. However, even though Jews, Christians and Muslims worship the same God — since there is only one God — their concepts concerning Him differ in some significant ways.

Muslims believe in GOD(in arabic Allah), the Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, The Creator and The Provider, He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable unto Him.

Islam is the only religion which recognizes and believes that all the prophets brought the same essential message This message was, still and will be the belief in and submission to ONE God (the Creator and the Sustainer of all things, the Exalted and the Redeemer of all things. The word Islam itself means "submission and surrendering" to God

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam is the only religion which teaches the existence of a PERFECT God. A perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes:

"Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him." (Holy Qur'an, 112:1-4)

first of all, Allah is just a name for God. like how some bibles say that God's name is Jehovah.
The word "Allah" literally means itself, "The only one worthy to be worshipped".
-Take into consideration that the Arabic Bible uses Allah as a translation for God.

================

"Allah" comes from the Arabic word "elah" - (Arabic) means 'a god' or 'anything that is worshipped'. In Arabic "Al" means "The". Al-elah combines makes "The god", but it still doesn't mean what "Allah" means, because this could still be made plural. This word (elah) can be made plural, as in "aleha" and it can be male or female, and Allah does not have any gender. Therefore, the word "Allah" is perfected way to describe "the God", because it cannot be made plural, nor can it be made into a gender of either male or female. The reason for calling God , Allah is because 'Allah' is unique word unlike God. The word God can be play with. E.g. Goddess, Godfather, Godmother, TinGod.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh was asked to define "Allah", then the chapter 112 was revealed on him which says,
"Say: He is Allah, The One and Only. "Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
"He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him."
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]
=========================

when we say "Allah" , we refer to the God the father in Christianity. but we dont believe that He has a son or any other partner with Him.

Jews do believe in one God, but their concept of God has been distorted. Although the torah says that "God is not a man in Numbers 23:19" but torah has attributed to God some characteristics of human beings.

For example

Torah says that God made the heavens and Earth in six days and on the seventh day, he rested and was refreshed. Rest is the need of human beings, only humans got tired. God does not need to rest.
GENESIS 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Quran says , Quran(50:38) We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.
Al-Quran (2:255) God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Everlasting; slumber does not seize him nor does sleep;

====================================

THATS WHY I SAY,,,,
Islam is the only religion which teaches the existence of a one and only PERFECT God. A perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes:

Allah is simply arabic for God. Like Elohim is Hebrew for God. They are one and the same. Not to mention that several places in the Quran it is confirmed they are one and the same through the examples of "Do you not remember how Allah sent Isa (PBUH) (JESUS) to the people with the message, but they turned around and made innovations against it?" They are all one and the same.

I'm not Muslim, but I do know God has many names, by some he is known as God, or Lord, or Allah, or many other names, which mean the very same thing.

We are not all that different.
