Warriorbabe has a great answer on this one. What they did on May was destructive to their "cause". I believe that Americans who did at one time have empathy for them don't anymore. All they managed to do was incite people and enrage them. They bit the hand that feeds them, so to speak. Their flag game really pissed me off. It showed outright arrogance and stupidity. I kept thinking over and over, "If you are so proud to be Mexican, why the hell are you here in the UNITED STATES?" They made asses out of themselves. It did a lot of things, but none of it was positive. Their signs in Spanish didn't help anything either. I think a lot of Americans realize now that they (many of them) only want to take over. They don't want to assimilate. They don't want to be Americans but they want America.....

No. The demonstrations only provoked State governments to react and enforce what should have been the Federal governments job, a long time ago. Several States stepped up measures where illegal aliens are being detained and arrested for deportation. It is becoming more apparent with more cities across the nation stepping to the plate and enforcing laws already in existence. From that stand point, the demonstrations have failed illegal aliens. Great question.

Negative impact.
1) They flew they're Mexican flags, and other flags.. along with U.S. flags, however, only after they were told by Liberals and the Catholic church to do so-- hoping that that would affect the rest of the nation...
....As if no one cought on... What are we stupid?
2) Viva La Raza... and Reconqista... messages--- that could make any American citizen go nuts...
3) They have no rights in the first place-- let alone, they protest in a country which they invaded in the first place--
...How do you expect to come here illegally and then demand a new law---
...Why have laws anyway? They will just be broken again...
I think many people were open minded about their cause.. I was at first.. Until, I noticed how much these people don't really care for the U.S. They are trying to change everything to make it more like, "Mexico."
They left Mexico to come here... to make it another Mexico. (Well, speaking of the majority.. or at least what I see here in Houston)
They don't care about learning English. They don't care that WE are paying their way. They don't care about laws obviouslly. They wanted to change OUR anthem. They want to RUN OUR country... and come up with the most segragating comments...
They are not American material. They are Mexican, and forever will be. They are invading to take over the U.S. and turn it into their "Mexico."
Which isn't going to happen...at least not in my life time.
...all in all, I think it made America laugh at 'em.. No offense, but it was stupid. At least I think it was stupid...

No, I do not believe so. What they did was pretty much tick off most Americans. No they are not better off...illegals in Ohio are now in hiding cause they fear that their about to get deported. (rightly so too) Local Governments are starting to crack down on the illegals, mainly because the Federal Government is sitting on their hands not wanting to look like the bad guy. (friggin jerks!) Private citizens that did not realize how bad the situation truly was, got a HUGE wake up call back in May and are now making their voices heard! The illegals thought they could demand rights and etc. and didn't think the Americans would get so ticked off......now they are scared....and they should be.

They have given the formerly sleeping American Sheeple something to chew on, and the Sheeple ain't liking the taste.
Mexicans immigrating here illegally have incurred the wrath of main-stream America, not because of any hidden or not so hidden racial agenda on the part of Americans. They have angered Americans because they have no respect for the laws of this country and they believe that the location of our southern border gives them the right to blatantly disregard sovereign United States law, jumping in front of any and all immigrants attempting to enter our country legally. They then have the unmitigated gall to demand the civil rights reserved for American citizens, by marching in AMERICAN streets! Non-citizens are not entitled to Civil Rights.
Where is the outrage toward other illegals you might ask? It is there as well, but the majority of other ethnicities illegally entering the United States are more concerned with staying under the radar. They are not engaging in the flagrant and brazen in-your-face tactics of illegal Mexicans and their socialist supporters whose very presence in the United States poses untold problems and hardships for other racial groups within the United States.

No, I don't think THEY are better off for it ... on the contrary ... but WE are ... I think these demonstrations were the wake up call for so many Americans sitting on the fence, or not really knowing what was going on ... I have heard quite a few people saying they were never interested in politics before, but they are now ... so yeah, a few more demonstrations like that, and the whole country will be galvanized against these blood suckers and their apologists .... you spit on my flag, and you spit on me!

There putting them self's down I think. The rallies only helped other people open their eyes to the serious problem that's going on.
If you look at California, look what they turned it into? Is that the Future that there looking for? Crime, Graffiti, and the highest rates of high school drop outs? Kids having Kids out of wedlock. People selling oranges and Popsicles sticks to make a few bucks? Mexico may of been a nice place but look at the Mexico now these people turn countries into piles of $h1T. That's not just Mexico its other countries too.
Running away from the same dumb they created and now America is being slowly turned into that same dump.

No, I think their demonstrations really backfired on them.
As sho_ban said, "This is simply my opinion, 'They crapped in their sombrero and now they have to wear it.'
I loved this question, thank you very much! And, I loved all the very wonderful answers your question generated here!
I think that a lot of legal immigrants and even a lot of pro-illegal immigrant supporters who showed support on May 1st were sorry afterwards, when they realized what a bad idea it was. I think a lot of them did not realize what the real intent of the illegals was on that day and that they were sickened by the disrespect shown to the American citizens with the trashing of the American flag and the honoring of the Mexican flag, the chanting of "Viva la Mexico!" and "Viva la Raza!" and the blatant demands of rights that they were not even entitled to. I think before that, those supporters felt sorry for them because they had fallen for the "poor illegal immigrant" stories, but their eyes were opened on that day onwards.
I don't think illegal immigrants are better off since May 1st. I think a lot of them probably wish they had never drawn such attention to themselves. Now, they have to live even more stressful lives than ever, always looking over their shoulders, finding doors slammed in their faces as employers are being hit with big fines and so are changing their minds one by one about employing them, cities are enacting laws against even landlords renting to them, schools, hospitals, welfare offices and police are now asking them to provide proof of their legal residency status, etc. No, I can't imagine that a lot of them are happy about drawing so much attention to themselves. So many Americans previously were oblivious to the actual numbers of illegal immigrants currently in the country, but were appalled when this was brought to their attention. I think more "anti-illegals" were born that day than "pro-illegals." I think the demonstrators probably wish now that they could undo that day.

Good question. I can't come up with any benefit and don't believe they are better off. Detriment, yes. The absolute in your face disrespect for our Nation that they displayed with their flag flying games was enough to convince me. I was already opposed but after seeing the American flag spit on, hung upside down under their own, they lost any chance of winning me over. In fact they empowered me. In my opinion their protests did nothing to benefit their own people or the human race for that matter. Unless their goal(s) was to threaten us, declare war upon us, get us mad and fighting amongst ourselves and endorse slave labor. If these were their goals, then I'd have to say, Yes the protests have benefited them and some have been realized. Interesting, thanks joe, you made me think.

The demonstrations basically showed that the illegals are communists who have little impact on the economy, and only allow walmart and other corporations to line their pockets by cutting labor costs.
