Your right it is the owners fault 95% of the time. Even when the owner dose all the right things there can be trouble with the breed because of bad breeding. I own a pit bull, he is great. Before I took him I check the breeding back round of his blood line as far back as 65 years. That is not always possible. Do not get your pit from the weird guy selling puppies for 200 dollars a piece. I can tell you that their sires were almost breed for fighting meaning that they were bred for their highly aggressive nature and not for those quartiles they were meant to have, their love of family and children. It is sad and I am for putting all those who turn these loving dogs into monsters in jail for a big chunk of their life

YES, it is true that every dog can bite. BUT the Pit Bull bites or attacks without reason. That is what makes them so unpredictable. One minute they are fine and you turn your head, they attack to kill.
It has been so bred into them over the years to attack and kill, it is almost impossible to breed it out. Have you noticed how in the last ten years you are hearing about Pit Bulls and how bad they are? That is because someone finally started to break up some of the rings of criminals that have done this.
I don't know what the answer is, but it has to be stopped and the breed started all over again and breed in the good Pit characteristics. The Pit can be five years old and you have never had a problem with him. You take him for a walk and wham! He gets away from you and attacks a child......That is how it works.
I had a Pit Bull and loved that dog like a child. Until he attacked my grandchildren. They were across the room and not even looking at him.

You are right - any dog has the potential to bite. However, the theory that many people adhere to - that "it's all in how you raise them" is untrue. Just like with people, you occasionally will run across "a bad seed" - the uncontrollable and just naturally misbehaved. I live in rural MS and in my area it seems that most people breed and train Pits for "gaming" AKA fighting. Good luck trying to love it out of them. Your effort to do so would only teach the dog that he is okay the way he is and he may even come to believe that he should be leader of the pack. God help you when he decides to remove you from your alpha position. Pit Bulls were designed for fighting. They are supposed to be aggressive toward other animals. I've been told that if a Pit is not aggressive toward other animals he is considered to be poorly bred. The reason in some cases - I believe - that Pits attack humans is that sometimes these dogs can't differentiate between man and other animals. I've also been told that Pit Bulls do not reach "mental maturity" until they are approximately 18 months old. If that is true then the sweet puppy a person has in his home today could become a nightmare down the road. I personally don't know why people are so willing to risk the safety of their families, other pets, or whoever the dog could kill or maim if it ever escaped its guardians watchful eye.

What problems ? The only problems stem from morons who know nothing of the breed and don`t want to learn ? There is that "locking jaw" bullshit again!! One talks about bad breeding and has two "pit" mixes which amounts to two MUTTS!! You people know nothing about an APBT`s so keep your ignorance to yourself , you`ll be doing the world a great service. Grandma, get off your lazy *** and get some education !! These dogs are`nt bred to attack and kill no more than Poodles are . You are so far in left field you should take up softball . Keep to calling the police on your neighbors and don`t worry about our dogs !!!

Pitbuls are a naturally more agressive breed of dog. Just like some of the smaller breeds of dogs are naturally more agressive (but they dont cause a problem because they weigh 7lbs and can barely fit your finger in their mouth). Just like german sheperds are naturally loyal smarter territorial dogs, and the health problems that naturally occure with beagles. Different dogs are "better" and different things and the thing that pitbulls are "better" at is fighting and once they bite they dont let go.

I agree with you my neighbors have pit bulls and they are the nicest animals you could ever be around. The way they act is all on how they were raised when they were little. People who are mean to their dogs need to get the same treatment that they are giving their dogs.

Any dog can bite, but a pitbull won't release until it tears the flesh away or bites through! They do a lot more damage!

So many people are still in that "state" of believing all the bad news about pit's.
There are many wonderful things to read about pitties. I like this website for example:
