If so, how do you balance your religious beliefs and your sexuality?
I honestly have no problem with the gay community but I know there is a big anti gay undertone in most religions. How do you deal with both.

Please no rude answers. I just want to try to see from another persons point of view.

Thank you everyone for you opionions. I glad to see so many of you that have love in your heart instead of hate. I has always been my desire to live life and try to understand people that are different then me rather then reject them. I asked this question because I am a Christian and while I don't have any prejudices against anyone, I know there are others in the religious community that do. The other day I went to the movies with a couple of other "Christians" and there was a lesbian couple sitting in front of us. They were snuggled tight with their arms around each other
just like any other couple at the movies and my "friends" kept whispering and pointing at them. I couldn't believe that here in 2006 we still treat people that are gay like some sort of spectical. I felt embarassed just to be in the same party with them. If I felt uncomfortable in the sitsuation just I can't help but imagine how those two girls felt.

Ok, I am not gay, but I have met Christians that are. Romans and I believe it's Corinthians that have the only 2 references to homosexuality in the Bible, and none of those are the divine word of God books, so it was just personal opinion. Plus, if you believe in Jesus as our Savior and follow his teachings you will not judge them. I would like to think God would let a nice gay person in heaven over an jerkoff of a straight person anyday.

This is the reason there are so many religions out there, they conform to modern times and movements, you have the roman church then versions of the same religion with modifications.....Can Man truly master what God deems are his people, throughout history Man were the interpeters of the signs and prophets but still mastered by the times and era's beliefs.....look at the Amish in todays society, they stick to there beliefs but when others doubt they move on and change......

OF course there are Gay Christians. We simply look at the teachings, know better than most what they mean, what is rubbish, and what is not. There is a lot of rubbish in all religions, but that doesn't make the whole pie bad...and there are a lot of very bad people posing as Christians, thinking they are holy. Those who think they are holy are not..they are arrogant and prideful..which is a sin in most religions book..judge not lest ye be judged. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Good luck

No, but some do claim so never-the-less. No anti-gay undertones.......Simply an understanding that service to God and obedience to God is on his terms and not the terms of mankind. The door is open for a relationship with God as he has described it.....

His judgment cometh......

there are a lot. and I am not one, but my best friend is. and I think that not all christians believe that. I am a christian though, and I would say that I still love her (and my uncle who is also gay) just the same as I did before she told me that she was gay. I remember it like it was yesterday. she told me at the mall then I said thats cool. lets get some food!

oh and I saw a bumper sticker or something that said "if god didnt like gay people he wouldnt have made me" ~ so true!

In all seriousness, denial plays a big part... "I can live by all the rules except this one." "Opinions have changed in my religion in the past, they will have to change on this too." "I can't believe God would make me gay if it wasn't OK."

They forget that God doesn't run their churches. People do, and they are considerably less loving than God.
