so many hateful remarks from so called Christians over a simple non-blasphemous question. Many scholars don't believe that she was a prostitute.

Who said anything about the DaVinci code or Jesus touching her? You people are sick

Yes. And she was a virgin after He found her too!

Don't believe the DiVinci Code, its full of DibunchaCrap!
The DiVinci Code is fiction (fake as fake vomit. Same consistency too.)

Read the Bible to get all of the FACTS! It is the unfallible Word of God. Nothing was hidden in those days. Jesus NEVER married.

The alleged woman in the painting of the Last Supper is actually that of John. He was the youngest disciple - with a youthful face.

To all those who claim that she was a prostitute, there is no passage in the Bible that states this!

Mary Magdalene is mentioned in all four of the canonical gospels, but nowhere is she described as a prostitute. This popular image of Mary comes from confusion between here and two other women: Martha’s sister Mary and an unnamed sinner in Luke’s gospel (7:36-50). Both of these women wash Jesus’ feet with their hair.

It was Pope Gregory the Great who declared that all three women were the same person and it wasn’t until 1969 that the Catholic Church reversed course.

In response to the question: I do not know whether Mary Magdalene was a virgin before Jesus found her.

Mary of Magdela was never a prostitute. She has been demonized as such by the early Church. They felt threatened by her (after all, she was the first to discover Christ's ressurection). Not everything in the DaVinci Code was a fabrication.

There was a prostitute mentioned in a story, but she is never given a name. That is where the whole, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" thing came about. The Church connected that story with Mary. Most people who know anything about the subject have come to the conclusion that Mary wasn't the whore mentioned.

And don't yell at me because I chastised the Church. It isn't perfect.

Here's my wild guess: In those days, before Christian morals came on the scene, I highly doubt she was a virgin. Unless she was like 8 years old. Like I said, just a wild guess. Of course, this all is based on an assumption of a historical record that could just be the 1st Century A.D.'s equivalent of Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter.

I do not think she was lost! That whole lost/saved bit came much later. She was most likely a virgin before her and jc met (how long before is the question).
If she was in fact a prostitute, she may have forgone vaginal intercourse in her professional career (a virgin!)
I rather doubt jc found anything (if you are god/god's kid you know where everything is at).

The woman in the attached news article might have an opinion. She claims to be a descendant of Mary & Jesus.

I think she was the prostitute. If not, then what state she was in when Jesus met her is the same state that she was in afterwards. Jesus didn't do anything to change her physical state.

Kewel idea...Jesus deflowered the whore...no she was no virgin when he found her...and there's ample writing to indicate she was in fact his wife after her life of prostitution was over. PEACE!
