My niece shelba is staying with me for a few months while her mom recovers from meth and crack use. The other day she came from school talking about peterpan and god and jesus. I grounded her for 2 days. I cant be.lieve she learned this filth in school. Talking about angels that fly and a man that died on a cross tha tis god. and holy spirits ( ghosts if i may say) I mean how can schools talk about pagan beliefs to other peoples children. I want to know what is the proper way to ground her? can sue her school. Wait untill Argus hears about this. He wont be happy

I would go too the school and ask the principle not to force their beliefs upon your niece. If this continues you can get a lawyer. Also don't force your beliefs upon your niece. Let her decide for herself how she views these things because after all you are doing the same thing as the school if you tell her how she should believe. We all must look at all of the religions and decide for ourselves what we want to choose and that includes becoming a atheist.

I do hope you are joking, but let me get this straight:

You are wanting to find ways to punish your child, who has already been through Hell, for talking about God, Jesus, and angels?

There are so many things wrong with that I can't even begin.

First of all the school probaly didn't talk to her about that. That's illegal. She might have heard it from a classmate or a friend.

Second, is it so bad that the child has found something comforting like Jesus to help her through the rough time she's just been through? If so, you really need some help yourself.

I'm not Christian either but I ain't going to condone punishing a child merely for picking up stuff about Christianity and repeating what she learned. I mean Gods forbid that the kid *gasp* develop her own spirituality and become her own person! The horrors!

Give me a break.

Well, if this was a deliberate act of defiance - then depending on her age - I think you are capable to determine a correct punishment for her.
IF she was asking for help about concepts she does not understand and YOU treated her badly - then YOU are at fault. A person under the age of reason can not be punished for questions or comments that need explaining.
If a person OVER the age of reason breaks a known rule - then a correctly applied punishment is warranted, because YOU and the other ADULTS have insured all the children under your care are taught your family/community beliefs - RIGHT?
Of course your neice being the only schooled person in your family, who can she turn to?
I hold you accountable to teach her right from wrong. Not a right with a quick jab. Children are more closely watched by deities than anyone. Mistreatment of children can not be excussed. Good luck when you explain YOUR life to whomever you believe in, If you mistreat any children.

I'm sorry but Christianity is not a pagan belief. Why judge something you most likely no nothing about? Talk to the school I also don't believe in most of the things that they teach children is at least the public schools some Private too.

There is freedom to believe in Jesus Christ in USA.

You will be considered abusive to not let your niece talk in your house. Obviously you don't love her very much.

The best thing you can do is direct her to a safe place, away from your criticism. I would suggest a christian church. Where she can learn about a God who loves her soooo much. Also understand that your niece has her angels watching over her. And her angels are always beholding The Father's face.

I will pray some special prayers for her.

I know what you mean. Those stories about dead people walking, virgins having babies, floods that cover the earth and people being swallowed by whales make me want to scrape my boobies off with a rusty Brillo pad.

Just smack your niece up side the head with the nearest blunt object when she starts babbling about that junk.

If the parents of the people in this group that keep trying to convert you to their inane religion had done that, they wouldn't be the pathetic losers that they are today.

"Spare the rod and spoil the child," I always say. Or maybe that should be "Spare the skillet" cause that is what I use on my niece.

Get down on your knees and praise God that this child has heard the good news that Jesus Christ is Lord and that many blessings and eternal life are available to you when you open your heart and follow the ways of our Creator. I will pray for Shelba and for you as well that both of your lives will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

OK...first lets all calm down. take a deep breath and think. they teach history at school right, and Jesus was a part of history, therefore they taught her about him, also grounding someone because of something that another adult taught them is extremely stupid and can cause major set backs in a young persons life. also i think you should not be taking care of any kids, can anyone else take care of her, you should check into that so she can go to a more stable and sane environment k...great now you have a nice day and GOD BLESS YOU

Your niece is looking for answers for her recovery. You sound like trailer trash and are your views Godless? When someone needs to talk and you ground her she is just going to look somewhere else for help. Since when is Christ who died on the cross for our sins a pagan.

Why don't you sacrifice her to your god and be done with it? Isn't that what you are getting at? If you are going to punish her for beileiving in Jesus then why not go all out?????

Please.... Get real and get a life. Let the child be a child and get over it. The child isn't the one with the problem, the people around her are. If the kid wants to find some relief in a simple faith compared to what is going on around her, who then is she hurting??????
