If its a male dog, you neuter it. If you have a female dog, you spay it.
Either way, a dog does not have to reproduce to live a long, healthy life. Spaying and neutering actually takes away the chance that a dog will develop any kind of cancer in their reproductive organs.
Plus, there are so many dogs out there that need homes. Its best to not add to that problem. You would be doing the responsible thing by having your dog spayed or neutered.

Just get her neutered. I have never heard about it being healthier to have puppies first. It might be better for guy dogs but not girls. If you decide to have the puppies sell them to a good home don't take them to a shelter. If you take them to a shelter they would be picked before older dogs and then more dogs would have to be put down. Unless you really want the puppies just get your dog neutered. It is so much easier! She will still live as long. Talk to the vet too.

I have a German Sheperd female that has never had puppies. It is totally safe to neuter your dog. Your dog will have a long, healthy, happy life rather even if you neuter her. The fact of the matter is that a dog, just like a woman can have complications related to pregnancy amd the birthing process. Call a local veterinarian in your area. They will confirm what I say to be true.

You don't neuter a female dog, it is spayed. Neuter is for a male dog.
If you are not a breeder your female should be spayed before she has a litter. There is no reason to put her thru all that for nothing. She will live a longer, happier life if you have her spayed as early as possible. Most Vets want to perform the surgery before she comes into her first heat. Ask your Vet but I think by the time she is four-five months. I wouldn't wait any longer than that.
There are enough pups killed and abandoned every year, don't add to it.................Call your Vet on Monday a.m.

It's really up to you. I have a male dog, but I do have a female cat who was spayed when she was young and she's lived a long life. A lot of people actually neuter their dogs when they're still young because they don't want them to have puppies for the same reason you don't want your dog to have them.

Have her spayed. ("Neuter" is what they do to males honey.) You're right. I've had dogs and if you're not ready to deal with puppies, it's better to have your dog spayed. I realized this after my beautiful hound/shepherd mix had a litter of 8 puppies. They were cute, but jeezus was that an experience! I've never cleaned up so much poop in my life and then of course I had to find good homes for them since it was my responsibility and I wasn't going to just dump the pups at the SPCA.

There's no harm in having your dogs neutered.
And besides, there are so many puppies in the world, there arn't enough homes for them all. By adding to the population, you'd actually be making things worse! If you love dogs, have them spayed or neutered.

whether you neuter her first or wait is really no difference. Though if you wait I've heard they usually have a better temperment- however she still may show signs of heat even after shes been fixed. If you really dont want to deal with the puppys which is 1. alot of money. 2alot of time, and 3. alot of trouble, then I recommend get her fixed first.

the term for a 'her' is spayed and do it now! the sooner you spay your dog the less likley it is she will end up with certain cancers in her older years. saying it's healthy to have 1 litter is very OLD medicine, or often recomended by people who just don't know better. if you can get it done before her first heat it's best but in any case, the sooner the better. besides, being pregnant has its own set of medical complications, plenty can go wrong....not to mention finding homes for puppies!

I have never heard that. It sounds like an old wives tale. I would never allow more puppies to come into the world unless you are prepared to find very good homes for all of them so they don't end up in shelters with all the other unwanted dogs and puppies.
