Depends on the living quarters, and whether they can get outdoors, etc... I've had 5 cats before and it was no big deal. But these days, in an apartment, 2 is enough! :)

I have 4, and would love 5, but the 4 i have are happy enough just the 4 of them. It realy depends on what you live in, financial stability, as some one posted vet bills when they age can run u dry. Think of the ones you have, if they really need another playmate, there are alot of new cat owners to be looking for cats, and its not fair for us already cat owners to take them all for ourselves, no matter how special they may be.

not really... I have 5 cats that live in my room and it's about the size of a small apartment. The only reason they live in my room instead of the whole house is because one of our dogs would try to kill them... she's all ready bitten one of our outdoor cats.

Also, I have at least 5 cats that hang around constantly outside and about another 5 cats that come and go... so to me, 5 cats is really nothing. especially since cats are pretty easy to take care of.

Probably a reasonable amount and you should stop there unless you have unlimited funds.

I have had six cats. One died of mammary cancer. They are all in their "teens" now and the vet bills are getting very high. I have a 22 year old cat who gets more medical attention than I do!

So the number of cats a person can manage, both physically and financially can be limited and you need to assess those limits.

You love them so much and you must be prepared to take care of them for their lifetimes as they are completely dependent on you.

No, since you love cats that much, don't care what other people think! We have..seven cats here! And they don't cause much trouble. They stay outside and go out the gate frequently, but they come back at the right times(feeding times)!

mmm i'd have to say yes, and i do love cats. but in the end i'm not so sure about turning into the crazy cat lady. and they are a lot of work in the end, so keep the number of cats limited. just a piece of advice..

nope...well, it depends on were u live... I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, but my house is big enough for it...I have cat doors every where, but my house is not that big. Only about 1400SQ feet...they like the basement. Just dont be a "collector" please...If u can take care of them and give them a rabies shot very year (or 2-3 years, depending on where u live) then take them, hug them and be HAPPY!!!!!!

Yup. How can you keep a clean house with 5 cats? I have 2 and I'm going crazy cleaning after them.

I have 4 . if they are all fixed and well taken care of and had all thier shots including feline lukemia than its ok feed them well and love them. each cat has its own unique personality. and above all make sure you have at least 3 to 4 litter pans in different areas and keep them very clean. make sure your cats do not get fleas because that causes tape worm than you have to worm them for that after you get rid of all the fleas.
