Question pretty much says it all. Specifically, though, I want to know if this will interfere with existing installations, and if I will have to move the contents of the "Program Files" folder after changing the location.

I think you would be in for a lot of registery changes and all your shortcuts to programs will no longer work if you move the folder. I say leave it alone. Why would you want to move it anyway????

Yes it will interfere with existing installation. You cannot just move the contents of the program files because part of them are saved in the registry. But during an installation of a software (e.g. games) you have the option not to install it in the program files, you can install anywhere, just specify a location.

You can't! You will have to change a lot of pointers and lots of items from the registry. Are you running out of free diskspace?
