Well since I know not ALL Christians do it, but since you are lumping them all into the same category....
I believe that "you" Christians BELIEVE that you are trying to help us and teach us out of love, since that's what you were taught, but it DOES come across as shoving your religion down our throats and as being hostile towards beliefs that are not Christian. I realize that you don't mean to be that way and that you genuinely believe you are trying to help non-Christians but really...the means by which you do it are not really the way to achieve the ends you're going for.
My advice? If non-Christians really want "help" we'll come to you. Generally we know that you are there to help and that's fine but we aren't really going to react well to you coming up and getting in our faces with Christ (again, I know you probaly think it isn't that way but trust me...that's how it comes across as). Just think about it...how would you feel if say a Muslim came up to you and started trying to teach you about Muhammad and the Quran? The Muslim is just trying to help and try to save you from Hell but really...wouldn't you get a little defensive?

Both. I think they there are many who believe that if they shove it down people's throat, they will be helping them.
In my experience, all they are doing is showing what I dislike about Christianity, the need to shove it in everyone's face.
Telling someone you could only be friends with Christians and the only thing you'd change about your boyfriend is that he was Christian is wrong, and against Christian belief. Aren't Christians supposed to "love thy neighbor" not change them or discard them as less because theyr not of the same religion?

Personally I don't shove my Christianity down anyone’s throat... I will answer a question when asked… give my point of view; express my thoughts or feelings etc, from my own personal viewpoint as a Christian!!
I certainly cannot 'Make' anyone 'Believe'... as that is something that only ones self can do: from 'Choice,' & 'Freewill'!!
And I most definitely cannot 'Save' anyone from Hell... only Jesus can do that!!

Firstly, I have to let you know that I'm a Christian. I don't think that we are trying to force people to believe our religion. We should try to convert some people, but we shouldn't overdo it. Let me explain. I personally believe that you do not have to believe in God or Jesus to go to heaven. (I do believe though) I think that as long as you are a good person and you strive to live a good life, then God will accept you whether you believe in Him or not. Because He created all of us didn't He? Even if some people choose not to believe, they can still go to heaven if they have lived a good life, because God sees everyone as His people. So He will accept anyone who deserves acceptance. And I do believe He is merciful. So you don't have to be perfect to get into heaven. Nobody is. I don't think that people will go to hell if they don't believe in Jesus. Everyone has good in them. Everyone has an equal chance. They must choose.

and the wheel on the bus goes round and round.....well skye...it will always be the same for this question.....if you say God....immediately some people think your shoving it down their throats....and some think that your saying that your God is better than theirs....and others are just plain full of hate....yes most Christians are just trying to help....and yes the nonbelievers are here to make things worse for us....Christians and other religious groups have always been made fun of....the non believers are here just practising their freedom of hate....

If I as an Agnostic-Heretic were to question the existence of God, have proof that Jesus is false, and know that Hell is in the PRESENT...You're not helping anyone by espousing seriously flawed information without truly examining and justifying the position you're taking. PEACE!

I think that right-wing Christian fundamentalists are using moderate Christians as unwitting dupes in an effort to turn the USA into a theocracy. Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.
Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”
They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.
Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools. Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.
All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans. Ralph Reed, the executive director of the conservative public policy group the Christian Coalition has criticized Reconstructionism as "an authoritarian ideology that threatens the most basic civil liberties of a free and democratic society."
By allowing this insidious agenda to progress, we are sowing the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious nut-jobs are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

Both, as you interact with people that are respectful, you treat them respectfully. But of course when you are treated rudely, SOME can be just as rude, thus loosing a soul and confusing all who listen to the rude person. As we are all humans with free will what else can be expected, few can be treated rudely and not have it affect them.
Also Christians are often TESTED (baited), due to various reasons (some are tests from GOD, and some are tests from Satan, and some by humans curious to learn - they all want to see what the Christian will DO - WWJD?
Peace.
