is something wrong with it? when the endodontist was cleaning out the roots, he hit something that made me see stars. could that have something to do with it? should it be hurting for this long? should i just go get it pulled? i've already had this tooth treated before and i have a crown on it, so that's alot of money that would go down the drain if i just get it pulled.

i had the retreatment by an endodontist and not my normal dentist, so i cant just go to my endodontist and tell him that it's his fault. im confused. let me tell you: i had a cavity, didnt hurt too bad, but my dentist wanted to put a crown on it so i said ok. well he put the crown on and when i got home and the numbness started wearing off, it hurt sooooo bad. i went back after my perm. crown came in and the dentist numbed my mouth and i told him that i could still feel pain. he told me to deal with it and let him do his job. he ripped the temp crown off my tooth and i thought i was going to die. he then went and got more numbing stuff and shot it in there and it stopped hurting. i didnt know but he did a root canal on me and then told me when he was done. when that numbness wore off, it hurt more than any toothache i have ever had (hurt more than dry socket) i was bed ridden. my new endo. did a retreatment and i am still in severe pain. i cant bite down or press my tounge to it even

I'd suggest that it is possible the root is cracked or that there is a "lateral perforation" along the root somewhere. If that is the case, there is no satisfactory was to save the tooth as it is. You MIGHT be a candidate for having the root removed or (if appropriate) having the tooth sectioned into two halves and then restored.

The people above are saying that, if the nerve is gone, you should not have any pain, but clearly the source of the pain is no longer the dental nerve. It's from the ligament that holds the tooth to the bone or the bone itself. There's something going on outside the tooth that's causing yo all this pain.

On a re-treatment, I would not be surprised for the tooth to be sore for a few days, but I would not expect it to remain sore for this long. Is the re-treatment completed yet? If it IS, then you've got problems.

You know that "we" hate to speak out against another from among our ranks, because we only know the patient's side of the story, but if your dentist actually even started a root canal without telling you, let's just say that "there are issues here." That's a no-no.

If it is in the back, on top, they could have hit you sinus cavity when cleaning the canal. You usually would have swelling on the face, sometimes a black eye and bloody nose. This is a Big OOPS. The dentist could be in alot of trouble. A regular root canal should not be hurting you if they removed all roots. If they did a partial root canal the other roots could be exposed. You should not have to pull the tooth. Call the dentist who did this and tell them it is an emergency and you need in right away..

The piont of a root canal is to pull out the nerve. If the dentist did it right you should'nt feel anything. Mabey you should go to another dentist, tell them all this, and let them take x-rays.

I've had a lot of dental work done this year and it though I'm no expert it sounds to me like your tooth is seeping air. This means that your dentist messed up and needs to fix his work. If he wants to charge you for his mistake I suggest finding another dentist and getting it pulled. It is possible that I could be wrong though.

Call your dentists emergency number, this is not your fault. Any dentist worth his salt will refund your money for the first procedure and not charge you for this.
