i have brown hair too and when i put the lightest blonde hair dye in my hair it came out red. if you really want blonde hair you might have to go to a salon and have it done. but they bleach it, and that can be really damaging to your hair. do you really want to be blonde that badly?

I have been dying my hair for 30 years, and it has turned out every color you could imagine. So, finally I decided to do a heavy frost, as I am also naturally brunette, and wanted blonde hair. This is the best way to acheive the blonde, and it look natural. I use La Petite Frosting, and I sometimes buy another very light ash blonde, in case I have light orange or light red tones. Put this on before you remove the frosting cap, it will cut the red and orange tones, giving your hair a great blonde color. But you may not have to use the other color. If my hair comes out a light blonde, I leave it that way. Remember green tones (ash) will cut red and orange and red tones will cut green. Good Luck.

You need ash tones to neutralize the red/orange tones you are getting. The problem is.. I've had customers come into my salon with orange hair after dying it with a box of color that says ash blonde.
**IMPORTANT** The color that the box says is not necessarily what it is. The girl with the orange hair brought in the box because she was told to use ash, and it said ash.. but also said leaves your hair a nice golden blonde.. ash and gold are opposite..this is why most at home hair lightening jobs go awry..
Go to a salon.
Another problem is that boxed hair color is not meant for high lift.. you need something stronger to get the lift you want. This requires professional products.
If you insist on doing it yourself.. go to a supply shop (like sally beauty) that carries "almost professional" products.. and they carry high lift reds and blondes for dark hair.. but since you've already messed up, you are better off going and paying to get it fixed or you could break your hair off at the scalp (or close to it). this is what we call a chemical hair cut.. and it never looks good

This is the exact thing that happened to me. I went to a stylist and fixed it. My hair was golden blonde for years. I have also the same natural color as you. Finally yesturday I got tired of my brown roots being so noticable to the blonde. So i went to a stylist and got streaks of my natural color in with my blond hair and then got light brown streaks to blend it all together, Now its still blond but it looks more natural and those darn roots dont show!lol. That is wut I suggest. But go to a stylist and do it.

Hair goes through 10 stages of lift. Orange is the hardest stage to get though when lifting colour. I strongly suggest going to a professional. Also, listen to what they tell you they can achieve. We can get anyone blond but that doesn't mean your hair wont be straw when we're done!

When you are going lighter, you are actually bleaching the color out of your hair. Your hair is orange because you haven't bleached enough color out of your hair. You have to do it in stages or else you will really damage your hair.

Why do you feel that you have to go to war with NATURE?
Your eyebrows are not blond, no OTHER hair on your body is blond. So why do you want to look like a clown?
Your natural hair is beautiful! Brush it with a Boar Bristle Brush!

You may have to use bleach in order to get it yellow. I use bleach. I pull my hair threw a frosting cap and bleach the hair I pull through. You can get them at most beauty supply stores. You can also try leaving the solution on longer, but from my experience with my friends, sometimes bleach is the only way to lift it to yellow. You can check out my hair at my website - www.bestsharednews.com.

dont use ash like that chick said....it will turn your hair green....I tired it once...one too many times...my hair was green...trust me! You probably need to get some bleach (hair bleach)...it takes the color out of your hair...be careful...it may make your hair platinum blonde or whitish....my daughter did that once when she put a (temporary color...so they said , on her blonde hair...(she had a purple rinse on it...)...it turned her hair white blonde...it was kinda cool actually...
