The 50 thousand came from past workers at my job stealing and i worked at a gas station so the money lost from drive offs. So my ex. boss adding all the missing funds and putting it on me and i was given a lawyer but they court i cant offord my own but he is the head od "derector of public offenders" so i guess he should be good i'm a single parent with 2 kids 1 20 living with me and the other 13 going on 14 in 3 months the 20 can go out on her own but the youngest one's father has a horrible past record and my brother has offord to take her but will the courts allow it?

Well as i am sure you are aware, there is a huge difference in money here. Which also means there will be a huge difference in your penalty.
If you did not steal that much you need to make that very clear, but it's up to the judge and jury if you have one to believe it or not.
As for all of you ppl treating her like she's the worst parent and anything else, it's not right to judge a person that you don't know because of one incident.
She came here lookin for answers, not criticism.
If you're a single parent then you know how it is, and if you're a rich spoiled single parent u don't know what it's like or if you don't have kids.
It's not our fault the men skipped out in their kids life or that we were put into a situation out of our control.
I am a single mother of 3 kids, granted i have not stolen but u hold no right to judge. If any of you were raised by one parent you should know how it is. Especially with economy the way it is now! It's the hardest job any person could ever have!
It was just a bad move on her part and she's takin responsibility for her actions, more than i can say for a lot of people out there.
Anyway, i wish you the best and i hope it all works out for you.

You got problems. You should have been thinking about all this mess when you stole the $3K. Now the burden of proof between the $3K to the $50K is up to you to prove you did not steal. And what kind of an example did you think you were setting for a 20 year old daughter?

I don't know what the court will do about your 14 year old. They may just ignore your requests, given the fathers past history, and make him / her a ward of the state.

Good luck, You are going to need it.

Why did you take the money? Need it for family reasons or just stole it to be doing it? I believe the courts will take her out of the home and place her with your brother ( only if he is mature and doesn't have a bad record ) I can't judge you for doing this because I don't know why you did it, I know if I was forced into taking it like my family was going hungry ( I might ).. But Stealing is never the way to solve anything, it's hard to make it yes but whats like if you don't struggle alittle. I hope you learned a lesson, and will not be doing this again, and I believe they might go easy on you. But I would really contact my lawyer and ask him what does it look like?....Good luck and hope things work out like though should..

Yes. You can get a court order to let your brother have custody.
Make sure that the story is straightened out while you are in court. There is a big difference in charges between $ 3 thousand and $50 thousand!!!!!!!!!!!! Be sure your lawyer is aware of it.
Good Luck. Pray for guidance.

Law enforcement didn't MAKE you do anything. If you didn't take the 50, then you shouldn't have said you did. Leads me to believe you did, so it's a good think I won't be on your jury. You should have thought of your children before you started stealing. Three thousand or fifty thousand you are a thief and deserve punishment. And your children deserve a better mother. Shame on you.

Yes i do think that a Family member can take a child....Family and children services may want to go into his place and try to find fault,,
Good luck and don't take any money/property from work.... those you steal from are feeding your children. And i do realize the hard times we all are going through, you took the money to feed your kids? I don't mean to sound harsh; more of a warning really. I have seen the state ruin families. over lies and phone calls. think before you act, smell your baby and enjoy it,I wish for you good Luck
If you must do time. Do something good with it. I will not judge you. I do have family in jail for murder. she killed her sons molester...Sometimes we do wrong things for all the right reasons

KNOW THIS state provided lawers get kudos for loosing...............sad fact our system is corrupt Saints preserve us

You have two children by two different men, the last was a shady character?? If I've got all that right; you had problems before stealing. Well 3,000 or 30,000 its not petty thievery, Take your punishment and work to live better in the future.

First, did you tell your lawyer that you felt forced to sign a confession for $50,000? Make sure he takes care of that/make sure the judge is aware.
Ask the judge to assign temporary custody of your son to your brother.

....and, pull your sh it together for the sake of your kids if for nothing else.

be glad your brother is taking care of your child now focus on getting the confession thrown out of court tell your lawyer they got it under duress which means under fear or threat if you get it thrown out you may not face much jail time i would say on grand larceny your plea deal should be mostly probation or parole
