For example. If john say every day I would never pass maths is he speaking life or death into his life?

When we speak about anybody including ourselves we are speaking life or death into that being. It is not because of who we are but in spite of who we are. The tongue is the vehicle of life and death when it speaks things manifest from that spoken word.
if you confess something like, "I am getting a cold." Guess what ?you will probably get a cold if you don't correct the confession before it manifests. We do not know the future, the only Spirit that does, is God's spirit. When we speak and believe it becomes a self fullfilling prophecy. We really need to guard the tongue at all times. It is the hardest member of our body to control.

Where do you get the idea that speaking about someone has the power of life and death? And your example doesnt seem to have anything to do with your initial question.
Anyway... John may be convincing himself he won't pass math, and he may fail math simply because he thinks he will never pass. But it's just a course in school. It has nothing to do with life or death.
Maybe you mean negative thoughts (about math in this case) can affect everything in your life? I suppose they can.

Yes you are for yourself and others, I believe a person is responsable for what they say,Read Proverbs 18:21 " thetongue has the power of life and death.

Not life and death but he sure is keeping himself from believing in himself.
We are not to speak evil of people and I would say that we could be found guilty of speaking life or death on someone.
The word of God with this is in reference to our self.
