When I was a teen and 4 of us spent the night together we girls played with a Ouija board. We did not believe in it and truly thought we were moving it. We were all young Christians. As soon as we finished and turned off the lights we ALL saw a black hooded figure with no face standing over us and were paralyzed with fear. We could sense evil and even smell a rotten meat smell. We started praying and after a while it left and we could smell Roses. We immediately got up and destroyed the board and none of us have ever touched one again. Your thoughts please?

Believe as you wish and disbelieve as you choose. It is the truth, this was 23 years ago.

Trust me I will never touch these things again, I don't even read horoscopes.

I did not eat a mushroom, we were all wide awake, It has deepened my faith immensely, I would never dabble in the occult again, I do not fear the dark as Christ is always with me.

They are nothing to play around with lightly. if you believe in some part of your mind that they will work then you will get your wish but not like the results.
Like most things that deal with something outside of yourself. you have to state your intention clearly and keep the thought in your mind. Such as contacting your dead grand mother or other family member have as much of that persons personal effects near the board. to help focus your thoughts on the person.
If you just open your mind and call out . Its like one of the other answers said its an open line and anything can and will come through in ways you won't like ,as you have already found out.
A black hooded figure that appears after you have broken contact could be a repasentation of Death or a spirit that you did not dismiss before you broke the circle or contact.
when you start to reach puberity your more sustble to linkage with souls and spirits as your body is in turmole with the rush of hormones. Add a dash of ignorance and Religious fear and you will call up a nightmare of your own chosing.
There are rules to follow when using magical tools and a Ouija board is one of the oldest ones for contacting the other side.

The Ouija board has a terrible reputation for attracting evil spirits.

I played the Ouija board 20 years ago, at a slumber party also. Although it seemed we did get in contact with some spirit, someone accidently knocked the cup over, after only a few moments, so whether or not it was anything evil or not, I don't know.

if you read my previous posts on Ouija boards Debra .. we can actually manifest what appears to be evil through our own fears .. i have a wonderful story about how amazing our own thoughts can be and will share that with you another time maybe
but fear and negativity especially playing with a Ouija board as a young christian could be a terrifying experience
as for the smell of the roses though .. that i don't doubt was a beautiful spirit come to calm you .. as smells are something that we cannot create via the mind and are scientifically hard to prove as anything but " paranormal "

The game, Ouija, is based on a Spiritualist method of ‘communicating’ with the dead, and is played with a board like those used at seances.” If the Ouija board is made to work by spirits, what spirits are they? Certainly not spirits of the dead, because “the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5)
So we can only conclude that the Ouija board is activated by demonic forces, the foremost of whom, Satan, is “the father of the lie.” (John 8:44) Clearly, the Ouija board, as well as all other forms of spiritism, should be shunned by those who wish to avoid Satan’s unclean influence.—Deuteronomy 18:10-12.
The connection of the Ouija board with divination, spiritism and “uncanny power,” all of which God disapproves, along with the frightening experiences that many have had, makes it plain that experimenting with the Ouija board could have only a detrimental effect on you.

I believe you.
We had one and when we became christians we burned it.
There is something very bad about the ouija board.
I think it opens an avenue to evil spirits to the people that are using it.
There are a few other things that will do the same thing.

I asked a question a while back that pertained to evil spirits. It appears that not many people believe that they exist.
If you believe in God and what the Bible says then, guess what the evil spirits exist.
Jesus was casting them out all over the place.
Where do you think they went?
Do you think He got them all?

You guys did the right thing in destroying that board. That is just another tool for the devil to turn God's children from Him. You have made the right choice in deciding not to use one ever again. The image you saw was an image from satan. The disappearance of it and the smell of roses I believe was from God to let you know that all was ok.

I've been a Witch and occultist for a decade now and I have never liked Oujia boards. They can be a useful tool, if you know how to use them right and know how to protect yourself, protect the area, and banish what you call up. I don't like the fact that those things are sold as games. Use of any sort of divination device like that that calls up things from the other side, like Oujia, Runes, pendulum, Tarot, etc involves opening up a gate, and if you don't know what you are doing and just leave it open for just anything to come through you can open yourself up to inviting all sorts of nasties into your space. Granted those nasties can't hurt you or do anything to you, but they can still give someone who doesn't know that quite a fright and they can make the atmosphere very uncomfortable until they decide to leave or you tell them to go.

I've had friends who had experiences like yours, and you did right cuz what you did is exactly what I have recommended to all of them: get rid of the board, trash it, and then tell whatever you called up to leave. Most of them will if you tell them firmly enough.

But they aren't bad per se, but in the wrong hands they can be damn scary.

I believe ouija boards work. I also believe that whatever moves the little jobber around is satanic, evil, demonic, whatever you choose to call it. I believe an experience like this very well could happen. I'll state the obvious.....please don't do it again for your own well-being.

So you played with it and realized it was a bad choice. Sounds like you did the right thing by praying. Ask for Gods forgiveness if you have not already. And the smell of roses that you smelled was Angels.

Crazy, but possible. And you were all wise to pray about it and ask God for help.
Ouija boards are fake, but I know many people who have had bad things happen to them after tampering with them. You did the right thing when you destroyed the board!
