If you must repent to receive god's forgiveness, what happens if you die before you get to repent? Are some people just out of luck; as if to say, you play, you pay? If all people are sinners, is it the luck of the draw whether or not you get to repent before you die? What if you took the lord's name in vain when you stepped off the curb in to a puddle? You were a truly good person, but you were on your way to a job interview, so you said something that you normally would have regretted. Then, while distracted with your wet shoe, you got hit by a car before you got a chance to think, "I really shouldn't have said that." Do you just always have to start the process of repenting immediately? Seems like it would definitely keep one on their "moral toes"!

I am really interested in your responses. I am not trying to be a smarty, just to understand. So, if I accept god and possibly jesus, depending on what you believe, you can kinda sin whenever as long as you're trying to be good and you've accepted god? I'm confused. Is it the intention that counts?

Are there people that accept god and never sin again, or is sin inherent because man is not perfect?

Well, obviously, you explode. What a silly question.

That is a pretty good scenario that you present, but most people have plenty of time to repent. Luck or chance have nothing to do with salvation; either you want to enter God's Kingdom and you change your life to conform to God's way, or you don't. You have the rest of your life to repent if you want to be a son of God. But, you never know when you will die, so don't put it off too long.

For those who don't want to be part of God's kingdom, then continue doing whatever you are doing.

To answer the question of what happens, the person will be burried and remain in their grave until the second resurrection. Shortly after that, they will burn in the lake of fire until they become ashes ('eternal torment' is unbiblical.)

Something most people don't consider is that to take God's name in vain means more than to misuse his name while speaking. We can also take his name in vain by calling ourselves Christians but not acting like Christ.

There are a few here that believe that it is permissable to continue sinning after accepting Christ as their Savior, and they will still go to Heaven. This theory contradicts what the Bible teaches. Read Ezekil 18:20-32

If you are a Christian, you shouldn't have major moral sins on your soul. Once saved doesn't mean always saved. That's presumption. God will decide, not you.
Christ gave His all so that you can come to repentance and "sin no more" as He said to the woman at the well.
The least we could do is live a life that shows our love for Him and honors Him. He gave His life for us, and we repay Him with constant sin and showing no signs of turning away from the world and giving our all to Him.

God can judge your heart, and if at the time of death, if you have really serious sin on you(murder, adultery, lust, etc...) and show no repentance, you have rejected the Holy Spirit, there will be no salvation.
All sin is not the same. There are different degrees

My My My when I think I have heard it all a knew one comes in.
Let me tell you something,I wrote a 3 page letter to Jesus and tried to tell everything I ever did to repent so I could be clean.Later in yrs of learning of my Lord I found out that no matter how many things I sinned in the only sin really I was committing was in not having a relationship with the God head. I was being disobedient to God.How was I doing that, because I wasn't accepting Jesus, that was it.

Repent does not mean you say that you are sorry for something, or that you feel sorrow. Repent means to change your mind about what you think about God. If you have repented (really) once and placed your trust in Jesus to pay for your sins-then it doesn't matter when you die-or if you have just sinned before you die.

TRULY A GOOD PERSON????What the heck does your goodness have to do with it? If it was left up to your goodness none of us would make it. Even on my best days I fall way short of what kind of goodness God requires to get into heaven,
To repent means to agree with God about your sins and to turn away from it. Kind of hard to turn away from something after you get hit by a car isn't it?
I thank God that it was left up to His goodness and not mine...we'd all be screwed right?

No. there is a certain point in someones life where they accept god as their saviour. A christian doest "repent" every time they do a sin. If u sin, then die, before praying about it or asking for forgivness, going to heavne or hell depends on if u believe that jesus died on the cross so we can be saved. The stereotype is that you can "cop-out" and pray before you die and sudenly be saved from hell. That is not true. God looks into your heart and sees if u truly have faith that he is real and can save.

I believe A Christian should pray daily and ask God for forgiveness for all sins. If you are repentant He will forgive you, and if you mess up and suddenly get killed, His grace is sufficient to cover a multitude of sins. Your salvation is not that fragile, but don't take that as a license to sin.Bless you.

Everyone is God conscious whether they admit it or not. We all have a God-given conscience.

The Bible says Those who seek me with all their heart will find me.

Everyone has an opportuntity to get right with God.

If you die without having repented, then you die in your sin.

God does not want any to "perish" but for all to be saved... if you accept God's gift of redemption, you will go to heaven no matter what sins you commit afterwards. If you reject it, you're lost - it's YOUR CHOICE - that's why "today is the day of salvation" and if you want to ensure that you'll be in heaven someday, you need to accept Christ tonight. None of us know how much longer we have left on earth.

You're judged in the here and now...PRESENT so you needn't worry about repenting. What you need to worry about is living your life the best you can respecting others and the environment; loving those closest to you; having empathy and compassion for those needier than you or I; take responsiblity for your actions or lack there of and the resulting consequences. Life can be heaven or hell in the here and now...IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT and how you live in the PRESENT that counts. PEACE!
