Personally? About once a month, depending on the situation. This summer, though, I let him go about 3 months. First, we built a new dog yard, which he got himself absolutely filthy in. Then, my brother-in-law and his family visited, including the dog, and I knew it would be useless to give Ash a bath before or during their visit. He got a bath about a week after they left. If we have an important event coming, he'll get a bath. We have a training demo tomorrow, so he'll get a bath.
The important thing, though, is that you don't bathe your dog too much. If you bathe him too much, you can dry out his skin and deplete his skin and coat's natural defenses. For example, if a dog that gets bathed too often gets skunked, it is going to be harder (actually closer to impossible) to deskunk the dog because his natural oils aren't on his coat and that allows the skunk's oils to penetrate the dog's hair. A "dirty" dog can be deskunked much more easily. A dog should not be bathed, unless he gets into something absolutely horrible, any more often than every 4-6 weeks. Using oatmeal shampoos or stuff made for dry skin isn't going to make bathing more often than that any better.
If your dog has a little odor or a little dirt, use a bath wipe in between baths. And frankly, if you can't handle that, than you can't handle a dog. Get a cat.

You should really call some vet, tell what kind of dog you have and get the answer from the vet.

Too often is bad for their skin. A long-haired dog needs special drying, etc. Don't take the word of anyone on here. Someone may say the right thing, but it really is something to ask a vet (even if it isn't a vet you go to regularly). Just call some vet's office and ask.

I have a bearded collie mix (he has really thick hair) and with the flea and tick medicine, I usually only wash him once every 3-4 months. I take him to the park once a week and he plays outside in our woods, but he never really seems dirty all the time. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to wash him.

I have a puppy, so I just rinse him every week or so in clear water. It gets the dirt and debris off, and gets rid of the "dog smell". It has worked great since I got him, about 3 months ago, and as long as it keeps working, I don't see any reason to change it.

I usually wash my dog once every two to three months. Any more than that can dry out and irritate their skin.
If you dog gets into alto of dirt or grime, you may need to bathe them more frequently, but no more than once a month then.
It takes me about 20 minutes to wash my dog but he likes to squirm a lot so it takes longer.
Please remember........USE DOG SHAMPOO ONLY any others will irritate their skin.

Once a month. My dogs live outside but i take them lots of places with me in the car, whenever they start smelling like dogs I give them a bath. Whatever you do though, dont teach them the word Bath, or you will play heck getting them in the tub!
