Yes, since there's no rebound from the pillow like there is from a drum head you're forced to lift the stick all the way on your own. This builds strength and muscle memory.

I'm a drummer, and the one intent i've stopped gambling at present is in view that after three hours instantly gambling I learned my left hand(snare hand) was once bleeding from the blisters I created, so in a circular approximately method train. I play in a ten' by means of 15' garage unit, so the correct position is helping if you'll make a few noise. Listen to bands like Led Zeppelin or the who and any jazz band they're a laugh to begin mimicking. Go from there it takes time do not rush.

it will help you more than you think, ive been teaching drums for years and the one hink ive always told my students is before you go no stage practice ou rudinment and paradiddles on a soft pillow or towel the reason this works in simple a drum head is tight and allows bounce in your stick a pillow doesnt you have to put all the bounce in yourself so when you get on stage your strength is built up and its all that much easier to build up speed on the kit. "hit em' hard cuz they'll never hit back"
