Thanks for the laugh. Allow to return the favor.
The comedian Jonathan Winters parks in a handicap parking place, gets out of his car and proceeds to walk to a store. A woman stops him and says" How dare you, you're not handicapped " To which he replys " You don't know what goes on in my mind "

Usually, after the seventh month in some "Mothers to Be", driving is out of the question because the equilibrium is off slightly and their judgment is not up to par... like turning corners to close to the curb.
I don't know why you would ask if a pregnant woman can go in the carpool lane...if two or more (visibly) people are together carpooling then of course it's ok., by law.
I think an unborn would be considered unseen....Hello...is anyone here???????? therefore, " Mother to Be"', is one person seen.
I really, really, hope that's the way you're referencing that Question.

Another classic example of people answering questions that were not asked. Yes. She can drive in the carpool lane. Anyone can drive in the carpool lane. And if she gives birth as she is driving, she will no longer be pregnant.

You probably posed this question tongue in cheek, but the argument has been made from time to time when mothers-to-be have contested tickets on this very basis. The outcome most likely depends upon the traffic court judge's sense of humor on any given day.
However, from a legal point of view, the answer is no, for the same reason that abortion does not constitute murder in this country. Unborn children are not considered people. Rather sad I think.

she'll have to pull over to the shoulder lane and then give birth or else she could cause an accident on the carpool lane then everyone would be late for work

A child counts as a passenger. However the child must occupy his/her own seat.
Solve that and you're good to go.
