Plasma TV are generally cheaper than LCD because they need to be serviced about every 5 years. LCD on the other hand will last decades without any service. In terms of performance, each TV is different and usually LCD will give you less glare on screen, but relatively they are the same.

I don't like either. If you are looking at starting out or expanding your home theater I highly suggest you look into a projector for your television and movie viewing. The fact that you can controle the size and shape of the sceen as well as the aspect ratio of the picture far out weighs any thing either plasma or lcd can provide. The projectors will also cost less so you can spend more on a quality sounds system if you wish. The only down side is if your viewing area has a lot of natural light. If so buy some blinds and curtians and enjoy the show.

Plasma is much more expensive. LCD and DLP are your best bets. I chose DLP because they have truer blacks than LCD. But the two technologies are quite comparable in quality.

depends on the application. if you are limited in space, or have a lot of ambient light shining on the screen, i'd go plasma. if not, i'd go lcd or dlp...much more television for much less money, and great pictures.

Plasma screens tend to be more expensive and they are bad for burn-in. They don't tend to last as long either.
