I have had a hard drive crash and therefore I am looking for a simple program that will copy all my files to DVD on a daily basis

Nero 7 is very good software.
Do a search for free trials or free software for this purpose on downloads.com
That is you best bet to not spend money otherwise I do strongly reccomend Nero.

You're looking for a backup solution. Backing up to DVD is not realistic because you will have wasted many DVDs each day and it's not automatic. Instead you should buy a large external USB harddrive. Those usually comes with backup software that you can configure to backup your files everyday. Depending on what you want, you may choose to backup data in a particular folder or to backup your entire PC.

try a few hot swap drives and a Raid 5 board.
