First other than getting urself into a diet n exercise regime, u have to stop worrying about your weight... Unless its affecting ur health, your excess 30lbs shouldnt bother you at all... Trust me Im grossly underweight for my height n age, but I give a damn about it... I kinda accepted what Im and now I feel no guilt or unhappiness..
Next, as others before me have said, diagnose if this is Clinical Depression or otherwise.. And get a friend who listens to you patiently. Though I agree with ur best friend that this pass and u will get over it, it still needs attention and cure.
If the real world offers less help, follow my 360 link and join the gang... Im sure u will feel at home and feel different...
Dont worry, this is not the end of life and u can be happy and enjoying in any age.... Just hang in there..

Def. depression, but the causes can be varied. Do you actually sleep well? I know you sleep alot, but do you still feel very tired? Do you wake up with a dry mouth, sore throat? You may have sleep apnea, very common, and it can cause depression, irritability, fatigue and weight gain. No matter what, go to the doc, tell him/her how you are feeling. Make a list of what's bothering you before you go, so you don't forget anything. Be sure to tell the doc if you feel any anxiety along with the unhappiness. Other than that, just having enough water during the day can help, we get dehydrated very quickly, esp. when drinking caffienated drinks or alcohol.

well to me you just seem unhappy and unsatisfied with how your life is going but you're not depressed really. just go get involved in something that interests you..whether its to go to a gym, join a church group, take a lesson of some kind,, or anything that catches your attention. Go somewhere where you can make some new friends to hang out with. You can totally turn your life around and make yourself happy. Make a change in your life. You'll feel so much better and healthier too. Good luck.

Amy,
I have depression and lived like you are feeling. I still have times that are down, but now I can recognize them.
You cannot get over depression. It is a real illness just like a cancer patient or diabetic. Dont be afraid to seek professional help and take medications. If they help, your life will come back together and you will be happy again. Dont wait, go to your doctor now! You dont want to get so depressed that you end up in the hospital, trust me, it happened to me.
Take care of yourself, oh, exercise really helps too. It relieves the stress and anxiety. Best of luck to you.

I've been there. For me it helped listening to the tapes of Steve Chandler "100 to motivate yourself". It makes you change the way you see life and realize how many opportunities there are and how many things you can do with your life. Also it makes you realize how much pressure you put in your life and how easy it can really be. It's simple things really, for example he talks about how you shouldn't take yourself too seriously, don't put so much pressure on yourself and instead of having a big goal, have several ones.

I too have battled depression for so long. Doctors are great for putting a patient on antidepressants, so by all mean try natural ways. Sunlight is a way to help the brain, and also if you smile, it will actually help..I have no idea why. I learned that in med school.

I think if you go out and hang around good, positive people, you in turn will feel better yourself. And don't think you're depressed. Tell yourself that you are going to have a good day, and you will. I have to tell myself everyday that this is going to be a good day, and my dad's chemo is going to work. If my dad sees me in a bad mood, it puts him in a bad mood. And then he will have a negative outlook on his cancer and such. So if ur in a bad mood, other people will be, too. So if you don't want to think about yourself, think abut the other people around u. GOOD LUCK!!!

My suggestion would be to talk to a mental health provider. Have a diagnosis before you begin to diagnose yourself. If you are clinically depressed there is a lot of help available to treat this. If you suffer from depression sometimes just therapy will improve it. Other times medications are necessary.
