St. Mary of Egypt was a prostitute before becomming a nun. Elizabeth of Hungary was a wife, mother and Queen before becoming a nun.
Elizabeth Ann Seaton was socialite, wife, mother and before becoming a nun.
Acts 6, 1 Corinthians 7 and 1 Timothy 5 discuss what are now in English called nuns. The word nun comes from the word for "one." It is a person without a spouse. Single would be the modern equivalent. Of course, since Christianity forbids singles to have sex. Sex can only occur in marriage, that means that to be single is to be a monk or nun. Nuns promise to always remain single.

First off, there's no such thing as "retro-active" celibacy. PERIOD. There's only Celibacy from here on out. Otherwise we'd be having "re-virginity parties" for all our friends. GIVE ME A FRIGGIN' BREAK!
A stripper can be a Nun if she truly turns her "life around" and has a profound impact on her life to become a Christian. I guess what they're trying to say, is they get "re-sanitized much like "born again" people do" and instead call it some CRAP like "retro-active" celibacy." ROFLMAO.
However, the TRUTH IS: Nuns were "borrowed" by the Catholic Church from Buddhism. Buddhist Nun's have worn black for thousands of years and also used the "rosary beads" to pray (another Catholic "borrow") so we see that in order to keep Catholic Women in their "places" they were given dead end jobs and kept in "female" roles.

Of course it is. Many nuns were married and widowed. There are only two orders that require virginity, Carthusians, and Cistercians.

But of course. Well for one thing celibacy is not a mandate if your an ordinary person, so there's a possibility that a person is active in that area until she found her calling. Guess there's nothing with that,

Yes, some may have been married and have children and thier husband die and children grow up , and they join a order.
And many ladies may have had a real "sorted" life and turn it around and join the church.
Past life is forgotten and they come to the church

Yes.
She takes a vow of chastity not virginity.
The same goes for priests.
With love in Christ.

Yes, there was even one order that had previously been "women of ill repute" that had been saved and wished to repent that way.
