1. What did the officiant wear? She wore a deep purple robe (chasuble?) for the ceremony. At the reception, she wore a lavender dress.
2. Was it their choice or was it at your request? She showed me a couple of robes and I asked her which was her favorite, and chose that one.
3. Did you approve? Sure!
4. Wasn't it a big deal to you either way? No, it wasn't a big deal

I'm Baptist and we're a fairly in-formal bunch. My wedding last summer was in the evening and out of doors. I wanted the party dressed up, i had the full length train and veil, the bridesmaids wore long ball gowns and the guys were in tuxedos. The clergy that we chose is the Minister of Children and Family Services at our church and a great friend. He wore a nice dark colored suit. It was his choice and totally o.k. with me. Our guests followed their own ideas of keeping cool at a " hot and muggy southern summer night" affair, so Mark (the clergy) fit right in.

For my wedding we had no officiant.
As for when I have officiated over weddings, I usually wear a conservative dress or black pants and a black or white shirt. Your choice to avoid a white dress is considerate. :-D But check with the bride and groom as to what they wish. They may want you to wear Bermuda shorts and a Hawaiian shirt! :-)

He wore a suit, he was the Mayor of Cadiz, Ohio. We did not request that he wore anything in particuclar. He looked very nice and respectable that day-like a Mayor should. Thinking back I just kind of expected that he would wear a suit.
For my second marriage it was in a Judges chambers and he wore his robe. I kind of expected that too.

We just got married on July 22, and our Reverend wore a black tux to match the groom and best man.... they looked wonderful......We are Catholic but our Priest could not marry us so on our first year anniversary we plan to have our priest do it again.... So I really don't know what he would have worn, probably the same as you?!

She wore a long black coat -
We did our ceremony outdoors, with snow flurries, in December - at 6pm. We never did discuss what she would wear. . .knowing that it was a 'guarantellya' that she would not show up in a holiday bikini!!!

She wore a long robe sort of thing, black I think.
I didn't really care what she was wearing.
Her pretty long red hair was distracting though.
