I have venous stacis ulcers that pop out on my feet. This is due 2 the fact that the valves in my large veins are faulty and leak. The ulcers R EXTREMELY painful and take up 2 5 months 2 heal, which means I have 2B laid up off my feet almost the entire time. I am way 2 young 2B laid up 4 that length of time. The present ones R just about healed. Does any one have some good advice or experience as 2 how to prevent them from coming back ??? Also there isnt any type corrective surgery 4 this condition as far as I know.

first and foremost you should wear good support hose or compression stockings( make sure your doctor prescribes the correct compression) put them on first thing in the morning and take them off at bedtime. elevate feet when sitting (if you can) dont sit for long periods of time, keep your legs clean apply a good moisturizer ( I have found that a thin layer of vaseline works far better than expensive moisturizers and you shouldn't have cuts or breaks on your skin if diabetic keep your blood sugars close to normal as possible eat a well balanced diet with protein vitamin c and zinc these are needed for healing if you are a smoker you will need at least 1000mg of vitamin c a day always take with food and protect your legs and feet any cut or scratch can give you cellulitis or infection good luck to you

Venous Stasis
You have to follow the advice your doctor probably already gave you: stop smoking, control your weight and glucose level, do not cross your legs, wear proper fitting shoes, elevate your legs to promote venous return, take very good care of your feet&toenails - clean, dry & inspect them for new wounds.
