I live with my older brother and his family and I will be for the rest of my educational life, but for some reason I don't feel like I belong.
Any advice?

are you a teenager because majority of teens will go through a " I don't fit anywhere" phase of their lives. its completley normal. but then again it may be that because its HIS family that you're living with that may make you feel uncomfortable. My advice : don't try to make anything tense keep everything as cool and normal as possible .

It's normal to feel that way. You're entering into someone else's life incl. lifestyles. Since you're just starting I think that'll be best for everyone especially you to try to incorporate yourself to their home rather than expect it to be the other way around.

Make it easier on you and your brother, and try to become a good sister and help him by not making it into a me issue, because if there is a problem, he is the one that will get it from you and from his wife and whose side you think he'll take at the end...

I'm sure that his wife is feeling a bit weird as well, so try helping around the house and make her a friend of yours. That way you'll be helping your brother a lot, just as he's helping you.

Make your own life. Call your buddies from school and have study groups, mall date groups. Your older brother has his own life with his family but that doesn't mean he doesn't love you, he does. It's hard to pay attention to both your married family and your birth family, does that make any sense? Smile, you will graduate and when you do he will be there to cheer you on. Don't feel alone. Fill your life with buddies!

If you talk to them, you might be surprised how understanding will be involved. They are probably experiencing some of the same issues. It will probably take a little while for those feelings to subside, but with good communication, it will most likely be a lot smoother transition for all of you.

Depends on how long the rest of your educational life lasts.

Well, the best solution is to talk to your older brother. You should belong because after all you are his sibling. Talk with him and tell him what you think or what's bothering you. I always talk to my mother and I usually feel better. Hope this helps.

Make sure you are not being burden by helping with chores and some bills if you can. Make sure they are not picking up after you like one their kids. Doing so should bring you all closer together but talk to your brother about it as well.

Do you help out at his home to make you feel like you are contributing?
