It's actually the National Zoo, but either way, it's free to get in, just as all of the museums associated with the Smithsonian are free.

The Smithsonian zoo, like all the other Smithsonian facilities/museums, is free.
Here's a web site that gives you information on the zoo, has 3 webcams, information about the free Thursday night concerts on "tiger hill", and much more.

The National Zoo is open every day of the year except December 25. ADMISSION IS FREE!

April 2 to October 28, 2006:
• Grounds are open: 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Buildings are open: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.


Information on seeing the panda cub. October 29, 2006, to March 10, 2007:
• Grounds are open: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Buildings are open: 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
