Would it not be more efficient all the scientist in the world?

Banned together to tackle one problem at a time.
Cancer, AIDS
There would be hundreds of intelligent people all focusing on one problem trying new things until there was a solution
Only problem would be how would you figure which problem to tackle first. How can you say this social issue or disease is more important than another?

i dont think so. some problems like cancer very well may never be solved, and so much reasearch would be done in short amounts of time nobody would know whats going on. and often times it takes decades to become an authority in an area, you dont want people to have to shift around all the time and learn something new

If all of the scientists focused on one problem, we would be in the stone ages still. Too many people convinced they are right and nothing would get done.

That would be cool, however most scientists study different things cause they know different things. Some who specialize in one thing would be of no help in another, so getting them all together will not be efficient. Here you have specialists studying what they specialize in. tho it would be nice if they realized as far as human diseases go there are many factors not just one.

They all have different specialties...
An electronics PhD working on the AIDs problem and an MD working on environmental pollution and a Chemist working on Travel to Mars...

The sad truth is that scientific study is a painstaking tedious job that takes years of research and fanatacism towards detail. There are no easy answers.
