The wages sin pays is death so that is what it is for --to pay for our sinful condition. ( Romans 6:23 )
Also death is like being in a deep sleep without dreams and Jesus will soon resurrect all those who have fallen asleep in death to either eternal life in heaven or to eternal life on earth. Then God promises that our enemy death will be done away with.
1 Corinthians 15:26 --"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

Death is the punishment for sin. Man was put on the earth to live! That is why Jesus gave his human life for us/in exchange for Adam.
God's purpose is to restore LIFE to humans. That is why we were created - to actually LIVE on the earth, and not to die.. Beleif in the afterlife is to mimic ancient pagans. A soul is simply translated to 'a life' and it is not a floaty thing that many religions teach. The dead are concious of NOTHING - It's all in the bible.

Death is for being put into the ground, and helping to perpetuate a natural cycle of life. Your corpse feeds thousands of other organisms, which feed other organisms...ad infinitum....

Death comes as a friend for many many people. It is actually a necessary part of existence. Without it there would only be stagnation in this world.

Death is the time to reap what you sow during your carnal life. A time for your spiritual rewards or purification.

Life is for living and following the word of God, believing in his Son, Jesus. Dying is for meeting your heavenly Father.

We may think it's the end, but really, not unlike a catepillar changes in to a butterfly, (grasshopper), so it shall be for us. In a twinkling of an eye...
energy just changes... it may lose it's quality, but not it's quantity.
I'm excited to see what it's going to be like. I love my life now, but the next one is going to be awesome.
