i took him swimming in a lake today and before we left he puked up some chunky yellow stuff. then when we got home he spit up/puked just clear stuff about 4 times. i tried to give him a piece of bread with peanut butter (his absolute fave) but he just looked at it and layed around and finally took a nap. what's his deal??

Dogs usually lap up water they're swimming in, and many times it's a lot more water than they would normally drink from a bowl at one time, especially if they're being more active than usual.

If your dog hadn't fully digested his last meal before swimming, he probably tanked up on lake water and it came back up, bringing with it with undigested food.

Keep an eye on him, don't feed him again until morning and limit his water - put ice cubes in the bowl so it's at least half ice. This will refresh him, but slow his drinking down. If he still doesn't eat in the morning, and is lethargic after a good night's sleep, call you vet. S/he may want to see the dog or can just give you advice.

That's stomach bile its yellow .Hes probably got an upset stomach from the heat and the trip.I would let your dogs stomach settle and give him small amount only of fluids and than late tonight give him a small amount af bland light food.I usually use lean hamburger. I boil it in water and than when its done I rinse all the oil and I mix white rice only not brown rice. Some dogs will also throw up stomach bile if they need there meals broken up more like smaller portions three times a day instead of all at once.It should go away.

Sweetie pie, your dog is sick. DO NOT, absolutly do not, put him outside to eat grass. Take him to the vet/animal hospital and have them give him a shot to coat his tummy and watch him afterward, because he might have swallowed some of the toxicated water or ate something while you all were having fun outside in the lake. But keep an eye on him, because puking makes the dogs weak and hurts their tummy.

Check yourself to find-out if you're up-to-date with heartworm medications. -----------take-up his dry food. Feed him once ( or twice) a day with can food. DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY HUMAN FOOD. Plenty of water--no human food and can food only. If his spitting-up is stomach relative--this will help is digestive system. If this continues, this could be something else all together. May want to see you Vet.

He has upset stomach. Let him be and he will come around in a day. The best thing to give him to eat is plain rice and cooked chicken. Good luck.
