Because when the upper-lip would sweat it leave a musty smell.And sometimes it can give men a headACHE when they get their food stuck to it.

hmm that's a good question, you'd have to look up the hisory of the mustache, maybe there's a reason for that....maybe the first person to wear one was named Mustache?? I don't know
